Terrible service - consistently…. So this was our second day this month giving this place a shot. The first time we came, the food was pretty decent. We ordered the sea bass sliders and poke bowl. Per our waiter’s recommendation, we substituted the chips for the sweet potato fries which were very tasty. However, the service was lackluster. Although our waiter was very nice, he was MIA most of the time. It took him 40 mins from the time we sat down until he actually acknowledged our presence and took our order. The place wasn’t very busy either. On top of that, our order came out incorrect. For the poke bowl we ordered the ahi as the protein but it cake out with salmon. When we told the waiter (20 mins later because he was MIA again), he tried to tell us that the protein on the plate was ahi.. not salmon. We disagreed and he confirmed with the chef that we received salmon… not ahi… then we ordered the side of sprouts that did not show up until we received our check! Again he was very kind. He apologized and did not charge us for the side. We figured maybe it was a one-off night? Maybe the waiter was new? Again, we enjoyed the food when it actually came out correctly. So we decided to give it another shot today. Right from the start, customer service was subpar. The young man that checked us just started walking off without any communication. I saw him grab 5 menus when he started walking so I assumed he wanted us to follow? Although, we never were actually welcomed and told “follow me”. It was not too busy, once again. However, we were sat in cramped tables next to another party. The stranger behind me and I could feel each other breathing in our chairs. That’s how close we were! We had a different waitress this time… but service was consistent…. God awful! She also was MIA half the time. The manager had to be the one to get my family out refills because she was nowhere to be found. I can tell they could see we were irritated because the manager offered me and my spouse free shots 😆. Although it was Father’s Day, it felt more like groundhog’s day, because it was the thing all over. Terrible service. Our waiter got it dudes orders wrong.. and the manager had to bring out the correct order. Then she chargers us extra as if we ordered an additional side along with incorrect one she just brought us! Stay far away from this place. There are plenty of other restaurant...
Read moreServer Angelica is so RUDE and the Manager Alex didn’t care at all. We used to come here weekly, NEVER again! Manager Alex didn’t send a new waiter and did nothing for the terrible experience we had!
Took about 20 minutes for our server to greet us. When ordering our food I asked if the fries were back to normal and she said our fries have always been the same, I explained, no on our last visit (within the month) that they had been changed temporarily due to a shortage. She ARGUED with me saying that was not true, they’ve always been the same. She continued with her rudeness through the ordering process. Angelica next argued about my email that stated welcome to new friendships, a round of bubbles are on is, and said that was not how it worked (despite the email in black and white). Our order for our tacos was wrong, and she rolled her eyes at us.
Later I asked to speak to the Manager. The chef Jorge came out, and explained that we were of course correct and that the fries had been different. He said the Manager Alex would take care of the whole table and comp everything. Never asked for that, and that certainly didn’t end up to be the case.
Later the Manager Alex came out said he would only be taking care of the fries and the bubbles (which I have the email saying something to the effect of new friendships, show this email for a round of bubbles), so not only did he do nothing for the terrible service, we had NO server for the rest of our visit. He also argued with me about my email and said he hadn’t seen the promotion before and took a picture of my email stating he would have to talk to corporate, like what?! WOW! He was also so rude didn’t care.
We were regulars at Kona, but this is our second TERRIBLE experience here, recent with Angelica and before with another incredibly rude server Rosa. We will never dine in this restaurant again, I will not take my business associates, nor will I bring my family.
These people ruined my young daughter’s graduation. Absolutely the...
Read moreThis was my wife's choice for our 57th anniversary. This made the entire experience a disaster. I ordered the poke, which I enjoyed from past experience, and it was good. My wife ordered fish & chips which came out as one over-cooked piece of fried fish that was more crust than fish. My wife eat less than half of it and we felt it was not worth taking home; this for, I think, $37. The waiter then brought out the chef who was useless in explaining the fish. We have had two or three pieces that were very good at other restaurants for about half the price. I had ordered the poke with greens and was served poke with rice. The waiter brought out two leaves in a bowl when I told him. The waiter then gave me the wrong check.
I will continue to come with my dinner group and order from the happy hour menu or the poke. My wife and I will not be returning. Your standard answer to discuss further is meaningless to me.
My dinner group came and was told that there were a maximum of 5 separate checks per group. The manager told us this was corporate policy. We were at the Kona Grill three weeks earlier and had no problem with ten separate checks. We were told this change was started two weeks earlier. We asked if we split the tables and were told this would not change the number of checks from the five. Needless to say that our dinner group will no longer come to...
