Golden Bowl Restaurant — Restaurant in Lathrop

We moved from the Bay Area to Stockton 10 yrs ago. Could never find good Chinese food. And we tried a ton of different places. Moved to Manteca a couple of years ago and resumed our search. Tried this place today.

Found it!!!

Everything we ordered came out hot, fresh and yummy! Nice portions, I was mad when I got full so quickly-lol! Had plenty to take home.

Very nice and attentive waitresses. Excellent service with a smile. Welcoming atmosphere. We went around five o clock, and as others mentioned, parking is tight. We were very lucky that someone was pulling out as we pulled in because the lot was full.

Within 15 or 20 mins, the tables began to fill up, and I could see that the counter was busy with call-in and take-out orders.

We ordered house fried rice-yummy; Mongolian Beef-delicious; sweet, and sour chicken-just the right amount of sweet and crispy; sautéed vegetables-so flavorful and crispy noodles and seafood-oo la la! All sooo good.

Can hardly wait to try other dishes on our next visit. If we can resist reordering...

I thought for a bit, how to rate Golden Bowl. My decision is as much emotional as gastronomic. I ordered the egg roll appetizer and the Szechwan beef noodle soup, with hot tea to drink. My soup arrived before my egg rolls… The egg rolls were tasty and somewhere approaching the temperature of the surface of the sun. The noodle soup is a dish that I frequently eat at home in Atlanta. I told the server that I was doing an east coast / west coast comparison. I really cannot compare the two as they are nothing alike. The soup was flavorful and full of fresh, still crisp vegetables. The veggies were primarily zucchini, carrot, celery, and onion. The soup was labeled as spicy, but it was very mild compared to what I am accustomed to having. The atmosphere is very much the vibe that you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. If I could break down my ranking, I would give somewhere around four stars for the food and five for the very friendly staff. I will surely give them...

I never post negative reviews, but if I could give zero stars here, I would. We ordered two Wor Won Ton soups and my husband went to pick them up. They didn’t sit in a hot car at all, he picked up the order, drove home in the air conditioned car, and brought them immediately inside. The containers/lids were so cheap that the styrofoam is warped, and the lids have literally melted into the soup. When we called to explain the situation and request a refund as we obviously can’t eat this, it was refused. That’s the reason for my review. Accidents/problems happen, but for this to occur and you won’t refund us? THAT...
