Subject: Complaint Regarding Bag Check Incident – Request for Review and Policy Clarification
Dear Target Guest Relations / Store Manager,
I am writing to bring your attention to a troubling incident that occurred at your store today( oct 2), few minutes back at approximately 7.45 pm pst at the Golden Valley , Lathrop, CA Target store.
Incident Summary I completed a purchase and paid for all items as usual. As I was leaving with my daughter, an employee called me back and asked to check my shopping bag as though I had taken something without paying. Upon checking, staff found a red clip on a dress I had bought, which should have been removed at checkout. At no point before leaving did any employee inform me I needed to remove anything, or that this clip would cause suspicion. Even after discovering the clip, that security staff didn’t apologized for the inconvenience, embarrassment, or distress this caused me.
Concerns Process Failure: If there is a policy that security tags or clips must be removed at checkout, that did not happen in my case. Customer Treatment & Communication: The way I was called back and treated implied wrongdoing, which felt unfair and humiliating. Lack of apology aggravated the discomfort. Lack of Notice: As a customer, I was not made aware of any risk or policy regarding such clips before leaving the store.
Requested Actions Please investigate this specific incident. I would appreciate knowing what went wrong, and why the clip was not removed at checkout. Review staff training or store procedure to ensure that: a) all security tags / clips are removed at payment; b) customers are treated with respect, and not assumed guilty; c) staff are trained to apologize and explain clearly when inconveniences occur. A written response clarifying your policies regarding security tags/clips, bag checks, and how customers should be treated.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I trust that you will take this seriously and make improvements so that no other customer experiences what I...
Read moreI was profiled here for trying to buy discounted item with open packaging. I'm not sure if it was how I looked BUT I was buying socks that were opened but had the pairs still intact even with the picture on the packaging showing the product. The cashier did not comment on the product but scanned it, bagged the packaging but not the socks and had another employee come by with a tablet to look for the socks on the website. The cashier just kept staring at me and waited for a response by the other employee, she did not comment or ask about the product to me. She did not fill me in on why she had to have another employee look at the product. So after about 3 minutes I realized they probably suspected I stuffed the socks in the ripped packaging so I told the cashier that the packaging has the picture of the socks included. The cashier pulled out the ripped packaged from the bag and confirmed, I was right and she didn't even apologize and just handed my receipt. This is unprofessional, I should have to know why I was suspected or had to wait another few minutes for trying to buy a discounted item. I shouldn't have to wait that long if all the cashier had to ask was a simple question. I was happy to answer and let her know I found it at the item at clearence section....
Read moreWhenever I come to this Target, I feel unlucky because I always end up dealing with Jerry. Every time it’s the same negative experience, he’s rude, dismissive. What makes it worse is that he clearly picks and chooses who he wants to be respectful with, and I always seem to get the attitude, is it because one time I asked him to remove a security tag from an item I purchased at self checkout? Probably has this grudge against me, or just is a rude person in general. This kind of customer service is unacceptable and really puts a bad look on the store.
Other than HIM, everyone else is cool, they always have great new products store, and the lines go by pretty fast. One thing is that it’s almost always impossible to find an employee for help in the aisles a lot of them are doing curbside packing so they don’t typically help they say they’ll call someone but don’t, and there’s never anyone in electronics, the buttons throughout the store are useless if you’re not going to respond. Like how are you going to have everything locked up but nobody to help you when you want to buy an item? This is the only target I find this issue at.
Back to the main problem, Jerry needs an...
