NOT THE TYPICAL NEIGHBORHOOD JAMAICAN RESTAURANT
Typically, our neighborhood Jamaican restaurants have the same menu: Oxtail, Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken, etc. In addition, these restaurants are also known to have "strong personality" servers who tend to be (for lack of better words) RUDE.
Montego Bay Grille & Cafe is DIFFERENT.
Not every day will you find the same menu; even to my dismay at times. They just will not cook Oxtail every day. However, the days they do, you had better get there quick! I have been noticing that they are featuring vegetarian dishes cooked like our traditional dishes but with tofu or chunks. You can opt for brown rice if you are watching your waistline. Potato salad is on the menu at times. And if you go there as often as I do, you KNOW you do not want to miss the Stew Peas!!! I myself am not a porridge enthusiast but I have overheard folks going crazy over the different, unique types of porridge served.
As for the service, as soon as the, yes, "strong personality" servers get to know you; they REALLY get to know you! They will greet you by first name, ask what you are having today; and do not try to eat the mouth-watering, perfectly fried chicken 2 days in a row because Kay and the crew will be suggesting a healthier choice :-)

After hearing rave reviews from friends, I finally checked out Montego Bay Grille and Cafe—and wow, what a find!
Tucked away in a clean, unassuming strip mall, this cozy gem instantly welcomes you with island vibes. But let’s talk about the real star: the food.
Today I had the famous jerk chicken, and let me tell you—it absolutely blew me away. The balance of bold jerk spices, smokiness, and tender, fall-off-the-bone meat was perfection.
Now, I may be a white boy, but I’ve had my fair share of island eats—especially Jamaican—and this jerk chicken ranks among the very best I’ve ever tasted.
Next on my list: the Fresh Snapper Escovitch, available Thursday through Friday. I hear the owner sources it straight off the boats—talk about fresh!
If you're craving authentic Jamaican cuisine with a warm vibe and affordable prices, I highly recommend Montego Bay Grille and Cafe. It’s...
Read moreMy friend Diana has always been raving about this restaurant. We do a lot of cooking at home because when we buy food most times we don't get our money's worth. My husband decided to check it out and OMG the food did not disappoint. So much so he is working today and sent me here bright and early to pick up his Curry Goat. The owner Ms. Karen is soooooooooo sweet, kind, and courteous. The food matches the customer service 10 folds with great prices. You actually get more than you pay for. I was shocked when I ordered my meal and one of the "sides" was calaloo WHAT? OMG I have been missing out and to think they have been open for 23 years and I have lived 10 minutes away 22 of those years and didn't know. Thank you for giving EXCELLENT QUALITY FOOD, and phenomenal...
