This was literally the worst hotel experience I've ever had, and I've stayed in a lot. My husband and I stayed there in August, visiting friends for the weekend. I booked the room for 2 nights, through a booking agency.
The staff was polite, although not particularly friendly. The check-in took an exceptionally long time, as the first associate could not find our reservation, even after being shown the booking number and reservation number. A woman (presumably a manager) tried and was still having a hard time finding it. Finally, she said, "Oh, there you are," and gave us our room keys.
Our room looked decent and clean, and we freshened up and went out to dinner. When we got back, neither of our key cards would open the door, so we went down to the front desk and told them our room number. They never asked for any kind of identification, just re-keyed our cards, and told us, "it happens sometimes." We thought it was odd that it would happen to both of them and that they just took our word for what room we were in.
My husband fell asleep, and I was reading a book late at night, when it sounded like someone was opening our door. I got up to see if there was a peephole, but the door started opening as I got there. Let me reiterate, THEIR key opened MY door in the middle of the night.
At this point, I was very frightened and pushed back hard on the door to keep it shut and flipped the latch over. They kept trying the door and pushing back. I looked through the crack in the door, and a woman and her child were there. She was apologetic and said they must have given her the wrong room.
In the morning, we went downstairs for breakfast (which was a very good breakfast, and the only good thing about this stay) and to discuss the issue at the front desk. Once again, she (same woman as the day before) couldn't find our reservation. I had left my phone with the booking info in the room and offered several times to send my husband up to get it, but she said it was fine and she'd find it. Finally, she asked if we could get it because she couldn't find us in the system.
When my husband went upstairs to get the phone, his key card wouldn't work again. He had to come back down and have the card re-keyed AGAIN. He left again, and a few minutes later, she told me, "Wait, I just found it." My husband showed up with the phone, and I told him the news, relieved, but very disturbed and irritated by now.
We were walking away to return to our room and discuss the situation in private when she called back to us, "but it says you're leaving today." 🤦♀️
Here we go again! I told her I had paid for two nights and pulled up the reservation on my phone, which my husband was finally able to retrieve. She agreed it confirmed that I had paid for two nights but that the information in her computer was different, and insisted that the (reputable) booking company must have given them the wrong information. Seriously??? SERIOUSLY!?!?!? After all of this, they expect me to believe that it was the booking company's fault??? Seriously?
It takes a lot to get me mad, especially with service employees, but I was livid now. Not only did she blame the booking company, but instead of calling them to confirm the information, she told me I HAD TO CALL AND FIX IT.
Regardless of the outcome, feeling unsafe in and unable to reliably access our room, as well as completely unwelcome at the establishment, we wanted our money back, at least for the second night, and to stay somewhere else.
We never did get our money back, but it was worth paying double the price to stay at the Hampton nearby, where our keys worked and no one opened our door in the middle of the night. Lesson learned. It is horrifying to think what might have happened if our room had been reassigned while we were out or if someone else had been given the key to our room. I will never feel comfortable staying in one of these...

Nice stay all in all under my situation., the circumstances— transition period on moving out of a place.. relocation and life changes..from south Broward.. headed to Atlanta for awhile and then came back to mid Broward County to find a place.. got caught in a very difficult Real Estate market that was almost impossible to find a place to purchase for buyers like myself..fierce competition at the beginning of this year. Almost a panic situation.. So my stay was supposed to be a couple of weeks but the RE market trying to make a deal with family help in Broward or PB kept pushing my stay which actually worked out very well and my stay over 2 months at the La Quinta by Wyndham ended up being a very good experience and a great decision to first stay there and to keep extending my stay.. Janneth and her entire staff were very good in working w me on my 2 month stay., extensions of the stay.. sometimes a week or 10 day extensions at a time which was very accommodating and helped make my stay enjoyable and the right place to be in my personal situation back 3-5 months.

Read moreThis hotel was covered in mold, mildew, and algae. I had trouble breathing there with my asthma and got very sick from the black mold and dust. We left earlier than we anticipated after checking in and seeing how bad the place is. The elevator was always out of order and problematic when working for the shortest period. It even has an expired certificate of being functional by several years! We had to carry heavy luggage down a digusting flight of stairs. The whole hotel needs to be torn right down, redone, cleaned, powerwashed, sterilized and then kept properly consistently. Surfaces were filthy, carpets were sticky, stained and our room was crawling with bedbugs and cockroaches. The breakfast area was dirty, crowded, and food selection was scanty. Garbage bins were overflowing outside and hallways looked dingy and depressing. They probably never were steamcleaned ever or vacuumed. Staff, except for Renee were unfriendly and ineffective, especially the so called head of housekeeping who was asked to send someone in to clean our room and didn't. I had to clean my own suite that day. She made loud personal calls on her cell using profanities while pretending to be working. The parking lot was full of sketchy looking people at night. Our card key for the room didn't work the second day. We had to descend that smelly staircase to go to the front desk to get another card to get in our room. I'd like to challenge the new owners to spend just one day and night there. I can almost guarantee they wouldn't want to! Believe me, for 179$ per day, there' s better, cleaner, safer accommodations in that area than that awful dump! We ended up staying in one and really appreciated the new place. I was able to breathe better and sleep better without the angst of bugs crawling on me. Wyndham needs to step up! Show some pride in ownership of your newly acquired...
