I booked a room here for two nights (The weekend). Check in was smooth for me. I get to the room, immediately noticed stains on the beds' top blanket. The lady who checked me was still at the desk at the time; I told her about the stained looking blanket. She goes to the laundry room and comes back with what I presume is a cleaned blanket. The blanket was warm and instantly I'm self reassured to get ready to get relaxed!!! I go to the room, peel off the stained blanket and proceed to lay down the warm, cleaned blanket. I immediately noticed a nice size hole or rip in the blanket. As I get ready to get some things from the car, my plan was to stop by the receptionist again to inform her of the hole in the blanket...As I'm leaving from checking the bathroom, I just so happen to quick glance and seen something rather small crawling on the table near the kitchen. I get a closer look, and its a little brown ant. I decided to take an even harder glance, and look... now I see two small brown ants. I go back to the front desk because I'm not in the mood to deal with ants or bugs of any kind, like for no reason at all!!! When you see one bug... two bugs, more than likely there are more somewhere... anywhere in there. My mind then goes into overdrive. I'm thinking about not putting my things on that table,...maybe their on the carpet, in the crevices of the bed or what about the leather chair my things are sitting on as we speak!!! Oooooo!!!! The cringe!!!!! I just want to Relaxxxx!!!!!! ...So I head back to the front desk and the little lobby is FULL Of People!!!! Where da hell All these people come frommmm???!!!! Ugggghhhhhh!!!!! I go inside hoping the receptionist would glance at me real quick so I could get the word out to her about seeing ants, but the poor girl was back and forth, back and forth....As more exhaustion fell upon me like a ton of bricks at that moment, I decided to wait outside to get air and some kind of serenity while I wait for the little lobby to clear. As I waited going on 15 minutes, seeing the people in the lobby moving back and forth, up and down, I couldn't help but think about if any ants have gotten into my things. I now decide to go and put what I had brought into the room prior back into my car, because it seems I was going to be in for a long wait. I come back to the front desk and the there is Nobody in the lobby now!!! The Lord must of known I was on the brink of passing out, because He cleared the lobby!!! So I'm waiting and waiting, and finally the lady who checked me in pops up from outside!! Apologetically she apologizes for my wait. As I'm telling her about the ants I seen she immediately informs me that they have no other rooms available. (This happened on a Friday... yesterday.) She then offers me a small discount for the room, to stay with the room, but I declined. The discount offer was nice of her but that doesn't stop the ants from crawling freely!! Lol. She offered me a refund, in which I accepted. Bitter sweet moment I must say. I really did need my stay. I did get a full refund but yet it's not all that great. The $100 deposit takes 3 to 5 business days to return to bank account. I could of easily used that deposit for the deposit at another hotel, but I have to wait 3 to 5 days on that returned refund. An then it is the weekend, so hotel prices elsewhere are really expensive. And unfortunately I'm not made of a few hundred dollars, so I ultimately need to wait for the deposit to refund back to my bank account fully so I could use the deposit for somewhere else. I'm so upset. Very frustrated!! I have no stay at all this weekend. Smh!!! I really hope the note was made about the ants in the room. And I hope they get an exterminator on it as soon as possible. I really hope everyone does what they are suppose to do so no other person has to make the decision to leave their stay. But yeah. I'm not at all happy. Very, very tired and needed to room to restrength and recooperate. Thank you receptionist for your kindness. But overall,...
Read moreI am a loyal customer who visits both of your locations in Southfield, MI. If I travel, I also usually choose your company to lodge with. Saying this, I have always been satisfied and have been accustomed to a certain level of customer service at Extended Stay. However, I am EXTREMELY disgusted with this particular location. 5 days prior to my scheduled reservation, I called this location to speak to the Front Desk to see if early check in was available because I knew I would be arriving hours before the listed check in of 3pm. I also asked if they were able to hold our luggage if early check in was not available. I was told early check in may be available if there was an open room but it’s not guaranteed. Perfectly understandable. I was also told holding the luggage was possible, which was perfect because I could visit somewhere locally until check in was available. I arrived to the hotel around 10:30. I was told early check in was not available which once again, understandable. However I was told they could not hold my luggage which was a contradiction to what I was told. I was also told multiple rooms have an issue with their tv working. I decided to wait in the lobby until it was time to check in. While I was seated, multiple guests came to the front desk to complain. Two particular complaints made me reconsider my baby stay. A young lady and her young daughter came to say their room was out of towels. The front desk proceeds to tell them, “We don’t have any right now, come back later.” There was no sorry for your inconvenience or any sense of sympathy. Furthermore, how does a hotel run out of clean towels. That sounds like a safety hazard. The second complaint also alarmed me. Another young lady came in and informed the front desk that she wanted to cancel her reservation because there was cockroaches (she mentioned a corner of baby cockroaches as well) and bedbugs in her room. Once again, no sorry. Just simply “Ok I’ll let my manager know.” At this point, I decided I was not staying at this location. No towels, bugs, and a rude staff is a terrible combination. I asked to speak to the manager so I could tell her my concerns. As I waited for the manager, I could hear her in the back speaking to other coworkers saying she doesn’t feel like dealing with guest and it took her sometime to even come speak to me. I voiced to her my concern with being told I could leave luggage but actually could not, as well as the two guests complaints I just heard. Her response to my question of “Is there a pest control issue with the building” was “probably”. She was very condescending and rude and I no longer felt comfortable staying. I asked to cancel my reservation understandably and had to find another hotel to book last minute. Considering the circumstances, I assumed a refund would be possible. However Jasmine is refusing the refund under the premise that “my accommodations would be possible at 3pm”. I would’ve had no problem waiting until 3pm and was fully prepared to do so, however spending the night in a bug infested room with no towels and possibly a broken tv would be absolutely ridiculous and management should be understanding of that fact. I am disgusted by the condition of the establishment as well as the staff. The refund is not a bonus for me. I’m not being “money hungry” or “shady”. I would’ve much rather preferred staying at the hotel I paid for weeks ago instead of wasting money on an Uber trip to the location and again to a different hotel. A refund should’ve been a request that was fully understandable and should’ve been possible. As a company and as a human being, you would think one wouldn’t even want someone in these conditions. I hope this can rectified or that some corrective action can be put in place. I have never received such utterly terrible customer service at...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. These 1-star reviews are way too generous. Here's my full experience -- buckle up.
Let's start with the only good thing about this property: location. It's close to everything -- Hard Rock, Walmart, restaurants, shopping, and freeway access. That's where the praise ends.
After a full day of traveling, all I wanted was to check in, shower, eat, and sleep. Instead, I was met with complete unprofessionalism. LYRIC, the front desk employee, was in the back gossiping about work drama while I -- and two other guests -- waited out front. She definitely heard us enter; there's a chime on the door. Still, we waited 10 full minutes before she finally showed up with a miserable attitude. No welcome, no warmth -- just rushed us through the process like we were bothering her.
Now for the room... where do I begin?
Pulling around to the back of the building, my gut told me we made a mistake. The area looked sketchy -- trash right outside the door, even though the dumpster was just across the lot. I opened the door and was instantly hit by a stale, musty smell. It was clearly half-cleaned at best. Here's a list of what we found:
Holes in the wall
Dirty microwave (no plate inside)
One body towel, one face towel, two washcloths -- for multiple people
Filthy bathtub and bathroom overall
Unswept floors
Baby roach crawling out of the stove burner
I told my friend we couldn't stay there -- especially given my health. I'm currently undergoing cancer treatment, and sanitation is non-negotiable. When I saw the roach, I grabbed my purse and left. We immediately started searching for other accommodations.
I went back to the front to let LYRIC know we were checking out and would like a refund. Her attitude only got worse. She called her manager (right in front of me) and relayed the situation like I was being unreasonable. She even said, "The room is clean, I checked it myself." If that's her version of clean, I can't imagine what her standards are at home. She finished the call, said she'd process the refund when the manager arrived, and mumbled something rude under her breath -- I didn't bother asking what she said.
I asked for a printed receipt, and she flat-out refused, saying it was emailed. It's now six weeks later, and I still haven't received that receipt.
Thankfully, we found another place to stay that was clean and professional -- the bare minimum any traveler deserves. But I never got the refund, and had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and submit the photos as proof.
I've stayed at Extended Stays before and never had an experience like this. The property needs to be shut down, fully renovated, and re-staffed. Until that happens, do yourself a favor and book literally...
