Before I say anything negative, I want to start with the good Nikki, the bartender, did her absolute best. She was incredibly sweet and made my husbandâs drinks perfectly. There was also another young lady assisting who went to check on our food twice, which I truly appreciated.
That being said, this was our very first time here, and if you know me, you know I go out of my way to support Black-owned businesses. Unfortunately, I will not be returning and hereâs why:
My husband and I arrived at 5:00 PM. By 6:30 PM, we still had not received our food. Around 5:45 PM, the young lady told us it would be out soon, but âsoonâ turned into almost TWO HOURS. Nikki came over at least three times to assure us the food was coming, but even she got to the point where she couldnât look at us because she knew it wasnât right.
I finally got so frustrated that I told my husband, âLetâs go,â and I walked out. My husband who is the most patient man still tried to wait, and Nikki, feeling bad, just grabbed someone elseâs to-go order and gave it to him. Keep in mind THIS IS YOUR GRAND OPENING.
When my husband brought the food out, it was a steak and potatoes in a to-go box⊠and the steak was absolutely FLAVORLESS. To make matters worse, he never even got his chicken and waffles or anything else he ordered.
For a grand opening, this is unacceptable. If you want to succeed long-term, here are some pointers: Get the kitchen organized â No customer should wait two hours for food, especially when the restaurant isnât at full capacity yet.
Train the cooks â Food should have seasoning and flavor; presentation matters.
Communicate honestly â Donât keep promising food is âcomingâ if itâs not; give real wait times so customers can decide.
Double-check orders â No one should leave without part of their order, especially when theyâve waited that long.
Understand first impressions matter â This was your chance to win over new customers, and many, like me, will not return after an experience like this.
I truly hope you take this feedback to heart, fix these issues, and your business still prospers but until then, I cannot recommend coming...
Read moreI have to take a moment to share feedback on our recent visit to The Tasty G Spot for brunch, which turned out to be quite a memorable experience for all of us, in a not so good way.
Let's start with the good parts: the host and our server were both extremely pleasant and professional. They are the first point of contact for customers, and I must say, they did a fantastic job under the circumstances. Additionally, the appetizers we sampled, namely the lemon pepper wings and seafood bombs, were delightful and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
However, there were some significant issues during our visit that need to be addressed. Our reservation was at 10 am, yet we only received our first entree after 1 pm. A three-hour wait for food is simply unacceptable, even though we enjoyed catching up and chatting. I ordered pork chops with grits and eggs. While the eggs were good, the pork chops lacked seasoning and flavor, and the grits were plain with just some shredded cheese on top. Adding to the mix-up, I was initially served potatoes instead of grits, but the runner corrected the mistake.
The very ugly part of our experience was the lack of managerial intervention. We requested to speak with a manager at 12 pm, after waiting for two hours, but no one ever came to our table. Throughout this entire ordeal, no staff member apologized for our prolonged wait time and less-than-satisfactory meal. The inclusion of gratuity in the bill seems to be the only reason for this, as there was no incentive for the staff to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Moreover, the alcoholic beverages were overpriced, especially when compared to other establishments offering unlimited beverages for the price of a single drink here.
To top it all off, after waiting for two hours, we were offered a single croissant for five people to share. Needless to say, this was far from satisfactory, and frankly, I would have preferred eating a bucket of 1998 Blockbuster Popcorn than to go through this experience again.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I hope these issues can be addressed to improve the experience for...
Read moreVisited TGS for the 2nd time ever and the first time at their new location. I should first start by saying that I'm super proud to see the growth and expansion from the warehouse to the brick n mortar...
The atmosphere was great, decor is fitting and a nice tone set with music. I must say at first we did have to request the music be turned down a bit as we visited on a Sunday at opening (9am). After speaking with the manager, she accommodated our request immediately and even changed the music feed to something more chill and suitable for a Sunday morning. She understood exactly where we were coming from without taking offense or being on the defensive. Our food came out quickly and we must say it did not disappoint.
We ordered the spiked french toast, fried pork chops and breakfast platter. Honestly....potatoes were seasoned to perfection, pork chops were tender and flavorful w/o being salty. Cheese grits with cheddar and gouda were perfect, right along with the corn beef hash.
Our server was attentive and inviting (Toya). She checked on us throughout as did the manager.
I've read many of the reviews where ppl slammed TGS for slow service all surrounding grand opening time frame. To understand where they started and witness where they've elevated to commands a bit more grace and patience. It's amazing how ppl will visit a white establishment, who doesn't value our dollar, experience slow/poor service, inaccurate orders at a premium cost and continue to patronize the business. In turn, when a business in our own community makes strides we shop them down and find every excuse to not support them and announce deficiencies. I understand visiting anywhere and repeatedly receiving sub-par service/food, but one off-putting experience doesn't require writing a place off.
I'll definitely return and continue supporting TGS. Their hustle alone...
