You will never eat all the food they give you. Not even me, who is known for the ability to eat a small animal. There are plenty of desserts and salads, and they make fresh fruit smoothies. The food is HOT, FRESH, and YOU will see your selections being put together and how it's being handled in every way. Everyone from the kitchen to where the food is served wears blue gloves. For me, it's a symbol of hygiene and food safety. It's family, couple, single and group friendly. They do serve libations in the sports area where all the tvs are, and it's truly the TV show Cheers. Depending on the season, they constantly run college and professional games on 50/11 tvs's (I'm from NY, so those of you who know, know what I mean). If you do eat a meal on that side, you'll have a good time. Even if you're in observation mode. Watching friends, family, and random people just enjoying food, laughter, and civil conversations about sports. This is a modern, fairly new place with a lot of seating. There is an organized take out process with minimal to no wait when you order in advance. It's Beyond...
Read moreI was just at the restaurant in Laurel with my brother and his wife from Atlanta. Having been to this restaurant multiple times I wanted to give them a treat. Unfortunately this visit didn’t end well. I ordered the two two two two meal which consisted of fish, scallops, shrimp and fried oyster. As I was eating my meal I noticed that I didn’t have any scallops. I walked to the counter and informed a server that I didn’t receive any scallops. She then asked to she my plate so I brought it to her( which made no sense because if they were in the container then why would I bring it up). Nevertheless I did bring it up and showed it to her along with the requested receipt. She then asked another server who also asked to see my plate. I told her that I wasn’t going to keep carrying my plate back and forth. The manager then came and I told him the same thing. He then checked with the kitchen and told me that the cook was sure he put it on the plate. I told him that I didn’t spend well over $100 just to try and get two free scallops. Eventually he brought two out to me still telling me I was wrong. I didn’t eat them but returned them to the server and told them that I won’t be back nor will I encourage any members of my church to come back. I assume the manager values two scallops over returning customers willing to spend over $100 on a Monday evening. Very unfortunate situation.
NOTE: I heard back from the restaurant today and the situation was resolved amicably. I appreciate the...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this restaurant. I was a little taken aback by the staff, but I said that shouldn’t matter that much. It appeared to be a soul food restaurant so I was pretty excited. I ordered fried whiting, but I got fried fish skins full of salt and grease. I also ordered mixed vegetables but they were cooked with MSG. Before I got home. My fingers started itching and I had to take a Benadryl before I can even continue to drive. I also had some fried potato wedges, which were also greasy and salty. I talked to the assistant manager about the food and she wanted to give me a chance to get some baked fish but at that time I was done. As I said earlier, I was amazed about who was in the kitchen cooking, taking orders, serving the food, and who was even cleaning up,. The total staff were “white” Hispanic. I don’t have a problem with this ethnic group. but I have to call this restaurant out by the way the food was prepared. The food is to greasy and full of salt. When I got home, my blood pressure was 185/101 52. . I just want to let people know that people of color have enough health problems such as high blood pressure. diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease which I suffer from all as a result of my heritage without going to a restaurant and eating such unhealthy foods. I didn’t see not one Hispanic dish. It seems like the owner got a good idea to serve soul food in a Black area but did not take the time to make sure is menu was cooked in a...
