Golden 168 (Formerly Golden Run) — Restaurant in Laurinburg

Decent food, good price, clean.

I rate this a 4 out of 5 across the board. I went today which is Saturday 6/7/25 at around 1:30pm and got a large buffet take out for a flat rate of $12.95. I believe the small was $9.95 not sure what size that is but the large is about the standard styrofoam container that we all know and love with the 2 half size compartments and one full size. The buffet is a little small but has a variety of dishes. I didn't care for the sesame chicken because it was dry as were the chicken dumplings and wonton dumplings but your mileage may vary. The other food was pretty good. Can't speak much for service as I didn't interact with any employees except for the cashier who was pleasant. The restaurant was clean. I can't help but compare it to my local chinese buffet restaurant Peking Wok which I prefer. I think Peking wok offers tastier and slightly better quality options although I do like Golden Run's chicken wings more. I just love Peking Wok's coconut shrimp, Baked imitation crab and cheese and red chicken teriyaki skewers which I didn't see at Golden Run. I think Golden Run is a few dollars cheaper. Terrible, the oriental lady the handles take out and all the money didnf give me the right large box of 1 item but charged me the large box price a difference of $3.00 also gave me wrong item not ordered. Had to fight w.d with her for about 20 minutes plus to finally get what refund back I was due which was about twice as much and she still didnt give me the tax back. I only wish we get another chinese restaurant here a d a good one that you can dine in as well .I have been purchasing food there since back when they first opened up but I will drive to another town now since I was treated so poorly. I was very upset by the time I finally got out of there, can't believe that they would rather loose a long time customer than to do the right thing by that customer. VERY...

I have not been in a few years, mainly due to the inspection grades. In addition, I had more than a few previous visits where the shrimp tasted sour and the wings (my favorite) were a little suspect.

That being said, it's a Monday (when most Chinese restaurants are closed) and I was jonesing for the Chinese, so I checked out their recent inspections (96 and 96.5 I think) which I was satisfied with, and gave them another shot.

I was glad I did. Nothing blew me away, but it never has, but it was good, which was what I was hoping for. The service was great, and the atmosphere was the same, Okay.

The price was slightly higher than expected, but that is food cost-driven, so I understand.
