JB’s Cali Fusion — Restaurant in Lawrence

Update: tried their food again and got two different kinds of burritos. Much better! Prices and portions are great too. I'll move to 5 star. But please fix your soggy fries! ................

I'll start off by saying the staff is friendly. After that...the atmosphere feels cramped and I don't remember anything special. Now to the food- the corn elote tastes amazing but the serving size is a joke. They give you a huge to go container and 1/4th of it was full. I'm sorry but a whole can of corn costs 1 dollar so why fill a container a quarter full? Thank goodness the taste made me almost forget there wasn't enough. The fried plantains with crema were actually delicious, and I've been to Jamaica so good job! I wish you had the deep fried (patacones/tostones) kind too. Please consider! The French fries was the worst. They were overly oily and soggy. Why have an option for fries and guacamole when the fries can't even stand up to the guac? I couldn't even eat them and threw the fries out. I'm still giving 4 stars because the staff is great and the menu looks great but they gotta work on some of the actual food (fries, portion size of corn elote, etc). I will try this...

We tried the food truck first, and it was a little disappointing. The Carnitas tacos had no flavor whatsoever, even with the cilantro, onions, and cheese. The sauces were pretty good, though. Walking takis with the Korean beef was pretty enjoyable.

After that, we were only half a block away from the restaurant, so we decided to try it out. It wouldn't be fair to judge it just based on the truck.

Once there, we ordered 2 burritos, a Korean chicken, and a curry chicken. The curry burrito wasn't bad. It had a good flavor to it, but I thought it was a little too dry, I felt like it was missing just a little something extra to help with that. I did like the Korean chicken, It could have used a little extra sauce, but it wasn't dry like the other one.

All things considered, including the price, I would go back to try a couple more menu options. Other than the carnitas (at least on the food truck) there wasn't anything bad, just room for...

Right when you walk in the music they play is inviting and nostalgic. The friendliness from all the staff makes me want to come by every weekend, and that's even before I tasted the food! The food is DELICIOUS AND AMAZING! Jordan Beber is super creative with all the weekly specials as well as their accommodations they make with their menu for people who are vegetarian and vegan.
