Disappointing First Visit to Golden Krust, But the Food Was Great!
I went to Golden Krust for the first time today with my family. We were really looking forward to it, we’re on vacation and drove 20 minutes just to eat at this Caribbean restaurant we had heard so much about. We thought it was going to be the best time ever.
Upon walking in, we were greeted by one of the employees. Shortly after, another staff member approached and asked if we were ready to order. Since we were still undecided, we took a moment to make up our minds. When we finally placed our order, we said we wanted three large meals. The first order was rice and beans with beef.
Without asking what the rest of us wanted, the staff member began preparing all three plates with rice and beans, assuming we all wanted the same thing. I quickly let her know that my son wanted white rice, not rice and beans. Her response was: “Lady, I asked if it’s 3 large and you said yes.” I explained that while I did confirm we wanted three large meals, she only took one specific order and never asked what the other two people wanted. Her attitude continued: “I took the order one time and if you wanted white rice, you should have told me because I’m the one taking the order.”
At this point, her tone and attitude were beyond unpleasant, and honestly, I was ready to walk out. But my family insisted on staying to eat. When it came time to check out, the cashier rang up the order incorrectly, then walked away without saying anything. We were left standing there feeling like everything was completely disorganized.
As someone who holds multiple professional titles and understands the value of good customer service, I can say this staff is in desperate need of proper training and development. I’ve been to Jamaica, and while Jamaican customer service can be hit or miss, this experience was beyond what I’ve encountered, it was downright disrespectful.
The one saving grace? The food was great. Flavorful, well-seasoned, and definitely worth the hype in that regard. If the service ever matches the quality of the food, this place could...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience with Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant as they catered/ served for a wedding I attended and feel compelled to share it to save others from the same fate.
First off, Ms. Tasha and her staff were incredibly unprofessional! When we arrived to the reception we waited over an hour forty-five for food because they didn’t bring any utensils to share the food out. The bride had to beg one of her guests to get utensils when they had more than enough time between the wedding ceremony and reception to do so. Just inattentive, and lacked basic manners, frequently interrupting the bride with nonsense.
When our table was finally called, Tasha stated that no one was being served food until the bride gives her $100. This made for a very uncomfortable dining experience!! That was something she could’ve talked to the bride or someone from the bridal party about on the side. NOT in front of us, her guest to embarrass her and still she doubled down on it telling the bride to her face in front of her guests that we won’t be served until she gets her money. Imagine ruining someone’s special day over $100…. Sick. Very unprofessional! When we were finally able to be served the food was lukewarm damn near cold and looked like it had been hastily thrown together. The macaroni was particularly bad – overcooked, salty and completely inedible. The rice and peas were hard however the plantains and curry chicken were good.
It’s clear that management does not prioritize customer satisfaction. I felt cheated for the bride and groom.. many of the other guests expressed disappointment and frustration waiting so long for subpar food.
In short, the unprofessional behavior of Ms. Tasha , her staff and the poor quality of the food make it a place not worth visiting. Two stars is generous for such...
Read moreI absolutely love their food. However, I feel disappointed after my experience today. A few weeks ago I picked up a to-go order, there was hair in my cabbage. I know the employees heads are covered with hairnets, I would probably have claimed it myself (I really love eating here) had it been my hair length, it wasn’t. I called the manager, Lydia, she said “bring your receipt next time you’re in and ask for me. I’m not here on Wednesdays though.” I came in on a Tuesday a couple weeks later. Ordered 2x as much as last time, just because, I felt inclined for some reason. Mrs. Lydia came to the front, did not greet me, which surprised me because she was friendly over the phone. She said “Yes, you asked for me?” I was polite, told her who I was and what not, she asked for my receipt, I explained that I do not have it. She says “I’m sure I said bring the receipt, I cannot do anything without it”. So I tried telling her details of the conversation, maybe she’s remember? I mean, how often is hair in their food? By now I’m like “just ring my food...all of it”. So then...long story-shorter...she tells the cashier to give me another cabbage. That’s all. So ok, she didn’t replace my whole meal, whatever. But the cabbage? NOT take off the price of a cabbage, but give me a side of cabbage and charge me for my 2meals. Sigh Enjoy you Golden Crust...
