Food was dissapointing. I ordered udon with chicken and vegtables. It was not seasoned at all and the chicken was over cooked. The udon also had bell peppers in it- which is unusual in my experience. Noodle texture was good but no flavor..took a while for any flavor, once added, (only had kimchi and soy sauce) to help it taste good. Tried the California roll- not remarkable. Also tried the salmon crunchy roll- better but not as good as other experiences. The avocado roll was very good, plesantly suprised. I sampled some vegetable fried rice, it was decent, could tell they used a higher quality rice, potentially sushi rice, but seasoning could of been a little better.. not the same as hibachi. Server was well mannered and kind, but didn't refill our drinks until the end.. we were there for over 2 hours. One of the members of our party had ramen and said it was really good which provided some hope. They also provide complementary miso soup with tofu, pickled radish, kimchi, broccoli and onions-decent to alright, was a nice touch. Kimchi wasn't that spicy as hoped.
If I were to come back, it would only be to try the ramen and maybe try the patio seating when warmer weather returns. It is small inside the resturant with some space to spread out, but not as large pictures on other reviews showed.. Overall, I wasn't wowed, left kinda dissapointed by the average experience.. but the place has some pluses, and I might of missed out on what they're actually good for.. There are better spots in duluth/ buford.. was expecting better food based on reviews...
Read moreSo my wife and myself had an opportunity to visit with NURI Japanese and Korean restaurant on sugar loaf and ohhhhh my gosh what a gem of a restaurant. This has got to be lawrenceville's best kept secret. We frequent restaurants every weekend, Saturdays and Sundays are our days to eat out. We tried this place for the very first time and I have to say it was absolutely amazing. It was a dining experience to remember. First of all, when we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by whom we discovered later was the wife of the owner. It is a family -owned restaurant. The restaurant itself was immaculate. The restrooms were very clean. It reminded me of my own home. The sushi was fresh. I had the seafood udon soup my wife had the shrimp and chicken udon soup. Very delicious to the taste! We will definitely be visiting this restaurant more often. The owner is one of the chefs and his son was also a greater. I recommend if you have not gone to NURI Japanese and Korean restaurant on Sugarloaf you need to go. I promise you you will not be disappointed. Thank you, NURI for such an awesome dining experience!! See...
Read moreAn absolutely wonderful experience. Visiting with friends down there, we decided to try this spot for sushi. Very nice looking decor inside, and we were warmly greeted right away. After we ordered, we were presented with miso soup and some "extras" - pickled onions, pickled radish with jalapenos, and broccoli with sesame oil. Nice little snacks while we waited for our sushi. The staff was beyond courteous, everything was presented to you at the table with care and respect - and man, the sushi. It was as not only amazing, there was so much of it. The price is comparable with other sushi spots (maybe even a bit cheaper) but the rolls are huge. And if you like spicy, be ready for it. This is not your run of the mill spicy mayo. Not going to melt your face, but unlike most places, you will definitely know you ordered spicy.
Definitely some of the best sushi I've ever had, served and prepared by a wonderful family who takes pride in their restaurant. I wish we lived closer, but we will be back when we visit - and this is now our friends...
