Blanquita's Mexican Grill Seafood and Bar — Restaurant in Layton

I really wanted to like this place. However, sadly this was not to be. I'm on a very calorie restricted diet. The only thing on the menu I could have without picking most of it out was the Diablo shrimp. That's because it was described as being on a bed of salad. As you can see from the photo instead it was served with rice and beans, which I can't eat. The beans were cold room temperature. Let me stress the sauces and salsa were excellent, if a little sweet. The rice and beans were good as well. Service was not good. Actually it cost them a star since as I said the sauces were excellent. She came by once gave us the food and then disappeared, never checked on our drinks or anything. When I complained about the food she didn't get the manager or do anything else. I'm about to do something I've never done before, normally I tip 25 to 30 percent, more for extraordinary service. She's getting 10, I feel horrible...

We tried this restaurant because the previous place here was fantastic. The lighting in the restaurant is so dim you need a light to read the menus. The food was ok at best. We were told it took so long to get chips because they were made fresh. They showed at the table cold and not very good. The karaoke was so loud we could not talk while the music played. We asked for it to be turned down the waitress went over and the music was never lowered. The waitress was slow but good. She did ask how we were doing repeating the music was extremely load. She apologized and would take off to the singer again. Our order arrived sort of slowly and the chili Verde was just flat cold. The flavor was ok but very little meat. More of a bean and rice burrito. The tea is not fresh even though we were told it was. This place could be great with better leadership, and listening to...

Food was not great, service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was almost empty, and they would not honor the wasatch savings, claiming they had no idea what it was and they didn't sign up for it. We waited 20 minutes while out waitress checked with multiple people, all who said they wouldn't honor it. We ordered anyway but then were disappointed with the food in general. I contacted wasatch savings which is a coupon book I paid $30 for and they said every business voluntarily signed up and has had adequate training so there is no excuse as to why they claimed they had never heard of it. It seems they want the advertising the wasatch book brings without honoring their end of the agreement. I don't like giving bad reviews because reviews are everything to a business' success these days but this was such blatant dishonesty a bad review was warranted...
