2019 UPDATE *
A few years ago, I used to come here every week, then every OTHER week and now about every other month if there is not other viable option. The primary reason being the quality and cleanliness of the salad bar. The lettuce and some of the toppings are old or rancid or have an 'off' taste. Basically, not fresh.
It didn't help that the last time I visited, there was a medium-size disobedient dog under someone's table nearest the pizza bar and salad bar. The only reason I noticed it is because the owners were yelling at it to lay down and it wouldn't. Pretty sure it wasn't a service dog, just a pet with a vest. I like dogs but not in restaurants.
Now for my review from 2016 below:
Best value IN THE WORLD. Healthy options. Yummylicious! I've eaten here about 50 times. –No joke.
The Clinton and Layton PPCs are run by the same owner and they do a great job. Management and employees are always hustling and on top of things. Always clean, always busy.
• High quality pizza LOADED with toppings Absolutely no skimping on anything. The biggest issue is topping overload.
• Awesome Pasta Bar with great 'home-made' sauces Alfredo, meat, tomato, spicy sausage, carbonara is extremely yummy and loaded with bacon.
• Great, Fresh, IMPECCABLE Salad Bar with everything you need to build a great salad no matter your taste. I prefer it over Sweet Tomatoes.
• Tons of Dessert Pizzas • Garlic knot rolls • Cheese Breadsticks
I fill my tank with a huge salad and a plate of pasta and then I top things off with a few slices of Chicken Alfredo pizza and a slice of Apple or Peach Cobbler pizza.
• Sign-up for text deals and always eat for $6 (or less). Yes, that's right. For the price of a $5 pizza, you get all-you-care-to-eat Salad, Pizza, Pasta, and Dessert.
There's also a frequent diner program.
You just can't go wrong here unless you don't like Pizza, Pasta, Salad...
Read moreThey had some great additions (cheeses at the pasta bar, extra dressings, variety of sodas/flavorings) that I haven't noticed at other locations I've been to. The staff was super nice, but there were definitely some problems. They offered me a special "birthday dessert", which was very kind and they did not have to do that. However, we finally had to leave without it. I asked about it after a while, then had someone follow up and ask if we just wanted it to go. But after waiting around we finally had to call it quits, and there was no one at the front we could talk to in our way out. The pizza buffet had several types of pizza empty for most/all of the time we were there, but were 2 deep in others. I honestly think it might've just been a bad night. We'll have to go back another time and see! Update: We went back 5-6 months later and the service was still lacking. There was seemingly no one manning the pasta station, and when they finally got there the employees were constantly complaining to each other. Also, my daughter wanted to donate a dollar for some fundraiser they were doing, and we waited more than 10 minutes at the front desk to even see an employee close by. When they finally came up they addressed a group of guests who came in after the nearby employee saw us. I'm pretty patient, but I would've left long before that if my daughter wasn't so determined. The employee was super sweet to her when he finally addressed us. So strange. We love PPC to celebrate, and this us the closest location to us, but we'll drive further for better service....
Read moreWhat can I say about the Pizza Pie Café? It's an all you can eat establishment. That's important for you to know if you have never been there. As with many things in life, there is a tug of war between quantity and quality and when one of those goes up the other side tends to goes down. This is true for the Pizza Pie Café. They have salads, pasta, and pizza. All of them are yummy and if you go away hungry it's your own fault. Can you get better quality else ware? Yes. But quantity is what it's all about here. All that being said, it's not bad at all. It's just not fancy food. If I have a bunch of teenage kids for a birthday celebration, then this is the right place. Even a load of elementary age kids will love it here. If you are looking for a romantic spot to impress your significant other, this would not be my first choice (but could be for some people I suppose). We went here on valentines day one time (for a teen birthday) and it was full of families where the parents were letting the kids run free while they tried to catch a few minutes together. What fun! It was very amusing to watch. Don't forget to try the dessert pizzas. There is a whole selection of those to choose from and that's one of my favorite things about the beloved Pizza Pie Café. ...
