I just moved to Utah in May and am in search of some really good authentic Mexican food. In passing Javier's had the look of a really good restaurant. I have found in past experiences that the smaller ones usually pack the biggest punch but not the case here. When I first walked in with my wife I told her “this place is gonna be good, I can just tell by the way it was all setup”. They had Mexican music playing, the entire ambiance was great and couldn't wait to get my hands on some of the salsa that I had heard about. Well, salsa came out and I could tell right off the bat this was not going to be good and I was right. Tomato paste with some seasoning is all it was. Everyone knows the salsa makes the Mexican restaurant since it is typically the first thing people taste when they are seated. From that point I should have just left but thought maybe just maybe the main food will be good. So I ordered the rolled taco plate, you can't go wrong with Tacos. At first sight I knew it was not gonna be that good cause of the Guacamole. The Guacamole was not homemade AT ALL! It was seriously the stuff you buy from Wal-Mart that tastes like chemicals. If it was truly home made then they used the same recipe as the stuff from Wally World. The rice was not Spanish rice that you typically see. It was literally still white. No seasoning in it that I could see or taste. Refried beans were good but heck you can buy canned refried beans and they taste the same but again no seasoning in it at all. The rolled tacos were actually pretty good. The meat had a really good taste to it so that was a positive. I did order some fajitas because of the seasoning they use on the meat. I must say the meat has a seasoning on it that is truly authentic so I commend them for that. However, over all just based on my first experience I will not eat there again nor would I...
Read moreThe one star is me being generous! Claudia, the waitress, was horrible! Worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a good minute. She was rude, and very unprofessional. My daughter asked for rice and beans, which she got, but it was white rice. When you go to a Mexican restaurant, you expect to get Mexican rice. When we asked her if we could get Mexican rice for her, she said “no because she already got that one, so no.” So we asked for a side of Mexican rice, and she said it was extra - with an attitude as if we offended her - which we were fine with, but we weren’t sure why she had such an attitude. She came back, with the rice, and so we asked for a manager, she said there wasn’t one there. After we asked her why she was acting like this, she threw our receipt on the table and never came back to assist us. I had to go ask for a box to go, we never got a water refill, or anything like that. When I was ready to pay, for food that wasn’t even worth the $30 bill, I asked again for the managers name, she then told me that she was the owner, something she never said to us before this time, so I proceeded to tell her that her customer service skills were awful. She responded by telling me to tell all the customers there how bad her service was, and then she told me to leave without paying. I never asked for a free meal, all we wanted was better service, so we left all the food we didn’t eat there and left. I’m no expert, but aren’t business owners supposed to try and make their customers happy? I mean, call me old fashion, but what ever happen to good service? I will never go back to this horrible...
Read moreWorst mexican food I have ever had. The food is disgusting. You know when you turn a bottle of ketchup upside down and instead of ketchup, reddish colored water comes out ? That's what their salsa looks like. Just imagine what their food tastes or looks like. Read on if you want to know what's up with this place.
We were seated and served water and salsa. Yikes ! Watery gross looking mess. Gas stations have better. This was the first red flag.
My fiance goes to the ladies room and although I have reservations, I order for both of us anyway. She comes back within a minute or so and I explain to her that I dont really want to eat here. She feels the same way. And so I approach the waitress and ask to have our orders cancelled. The waitress says 'I'm sorry, your food is already ready ' What the ? We just ordered literally 3 minutes before hand. How can our food be ready ? Impossible ! Sure enough the food comes out in the most utterly unpleasant form: the pork is so old and dry it looks as if its been sitting in on a shelf for days. The rice is a sloppy, tasteless nightmare, ughhhh . Gross. Don't go to this place. The food is nasty. I dont care what positive reviews there are (probably the employees/employer). I wouldnt go out of my way to let you know this is more than a waste of money. Its a disgusting...
