DoubleDave's Pizzaworks — Restaurant in League City

NEVER AGAIN!!!! Have eaten here 3 times, First time it wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. Second time, well... It was towards closing time (45 minutes or so) and just needed a quick bite. I was desperate for food since I just got back in town so we stopped here. Walked in, place was DIRTY. Not one clean table in the whole place until we asked them to get us one. Trash and left over food was all over the place (looked like a party of children had raided the place). So we ate our "pizza" and then started to leave. On the way out I tripped over a dirty fork on the rug at the door. I looked down and there was more trash laying around. I turned around and looked at the staff but they didn't take notice that I was tripping over trash in their place of business! So I walk out to my SUV and a few of the staff members were leaning on my front bumper (by leaning I mean that their ass was plopped on it). I asked the staff and his little trashy girlfriend to get off my car. Of course I got the F-U look with an eye roll along with a rude remark when the trash pulled the cigarette out of her mouth. Later on some lovely vomit (let's point the finger at Dave's). Shortly after that I noticed a sign on the building saying it was under new management. So the other night we called for a delivery order, took forever.... Then they had trouble getting in the gate (very simple gate code), so once we got the pizza it wasn't hot (barely warm which I have trouble understanding because we aren't more than 4 minutes away. We ate it and all 5 of us got sick shortly after that (3-4 hours).

You will not be able to pay me to eat at this place ever again, I am very surprised they are still in business. I do hate to leave negative reviews on local business folks but I would rather save someone else from having the same issues I had. Sorry Dave's but your outta...

This is not the same as it was a year ago. New ownership took over 7 months ago. The pizza, both take out and dine-in, has gone severely downhill. I wouldn't even call it pizza. The new owner, management, and staff are horrible. Extremely rude. Beware of the online specials and coupons as they do not honor them. The owner uses an excuse that it's a third party who advertises for them, and this isn't the case. He uses them to lure customers in, and the buffet was horrible. They had no normal pizza, ok the buffet. When asked if they would put different pizza out, the owner was extremely rude and said no. Not until all of the pizza on the buffet was gone. There was nothing that my 8 year old would eat. And he isn't picky. Not to mention, the pizza they put out was nothing but greese. This is one of the only dine in restaurants that I have been to that refuses to give you a cup for water. Instead, he wants you to buy his bottled water. The restaurant itself is extremely dirty. The bathrooms are one step up from a Porta Can. There are dead bugs all of the floor of the stalls and mold all over the sinks. Ineat out at least 10 times a week. This place is so bad. The old owner was so much better, and he cared about the customers, and he cared about what he was serving. The ingredients they are using are cheap, and honestly, the food is just bad. It's really bad. I would not waste your money. There are a lot of smaller businesses that serve much better food and care about their customers. I've attached photos of the bathrooms and some of the pizzas. One pizza they make is made with pickles and BBQ sauce, and it looks like someone threw up on dough, and they cooked it. See the photos. We are usually big Double Dave fans. We drive about 20 - 30 minutes to eat the buffet. The last 2 times have been awful. The first time, a month or so ago, we figured it was because we were there about 1:30 and the buffet closes at 2 so we excused it. This time we were there by 1. There were several other families there for the buffet. We were told the buffet was "pretty full". It was not. And they didn't put more out either. We ate old pizza that had obviously been sitting there because there was 1 or 2 pieces of a couple of types and they were hard and luke warm. No dessert was put out. A woman was complaining to the manager but he seemed like he was only listening because he had to and didn't really care. I also heard him trying to make excuses, which she countered. I told him I agreed with everything she'd said and that we'd had a terrible experience. He just looked at me and kind of nodded. Sadly, it's not worth the drive anymore. And it's not like it's a cheap buffet either. If they're going to do such a bad job, maybe they shouldn't offer the buffet and stick to delivery and pickup.

ETA: I HAD TO DO AN EDIT TO MY REVIEW. WE HAVEN'T BEEN BACK TO DOUBLE DAVE'S SINCE MY LAST REVIEW. WE DECIDED TO TRY AGAIN TODAY. IT WAS A GREAT DECISION!!! EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! PIZZA WAS FRESH AND DELICIOUS ON THE BUFFET. THERE WAS A MANAGER THERE THAT WAS ACTUALLY WORKING AND CHECKING ON THINGS. AND THE BEST PART OF OUR EXPERIENCE WAS JOSE!!! WHAT AN AWESOME EMPLOYEE. HE WAS FRIENDLY AND SO INCREDIBLY NICE. AND IF YOU GET THE CHANCE, GO JUST FOR THE STRAWBERRY PIZZA....
