Only menus were taped down to the front counter where it was awkward to stand and look at while trying to order, with people standing behind you. There are no fountain drinks, so don't expect refills. Canned/bottled drinks or brewed tea are only drink options besides water, which had a really strange taste to it.
We mostly came for boiled crawfish, which comes in three "styles." A house sauce/seasoning, Cajun, or garlic butter. We were told the most popular was an all in one, so that's what we tried, and ordered it spicy. It was brought out in a plastic bag and metal bowl, we had to dump it out of the bag into the bowl, and it was so full of liquid, that it filled our bowl at least an inch+. And it definitely did not look like 10 lbs we ordered. We ordered 10 lbs at another restaurant, and the serving there was much larger than what we received here. The crawfish was so greasy/buttery, that they were hard to hold and peel. The flavor of the sauce/seasoning is NOT what traditional crawfish is supposed to taste like. The crawfish themselves were pretty bland; especially considering that we had ordered the combo of seasonings. All the seasoning seems like it's just poured on and tossed after they were cooked, instead of the crawfish being boiled WITH actual crawfish crab boil, lemon, garlic, etc. Not spicy at all. On top of that our bowl was full of broken claws. Yes, there are going to be some broken claws in every batch of crawfish, but this was like 1/4 of our bowl. We did complain that so much of our bowl was nothing but broken legs and claws (as in handfuls and handfuls of them), and they did bring us out one more pound of crawfish, so they at least did something. I will say there were not many straight tails and only a couple of them that we're too soft/mushy. However, the lack of flavor and weight discrepancy is enough that we will...
Read moreI'd give it zero starts if I could. 1) they bring frozen crab out to the counter to weigh it which is beyond me why they would do prep out of the kitchen. 2) the staff was not friendly at all. The kid working the counter was obviously not caring about working and with only one other customer in the place, he was slow, monotone, and didn't show any enthusiasm you would expect for a brand new grand opening. 3) the snow crab was frozen (expected but not appetizing to see it prepped at the register) and was soggy once cooked. You're better off buying frozen crab from HEB or Kroger...you'll get much better quality .4) the Crawfish was SUPER soggy and the shells were all super soft. I think it might be due to however they cook it, but it's served in a plastic bag FULL of oil. It's probably vegetable oil and makes slurping those mud bugs nothing but a mouthful of oil. 5) this is an order at the counter and pretty much self serve restaurant. Considering it's set up like that you'd think the food would be priced accordingly, but you'd be sorely mistaken. For two people (3 lbs of Crawfish, a small fry, some crab and two beers it cost far more than a huge spread from any other local restaurant or big chain). I accidentally spilled a beer (which was seen by the staff) and they didn't even come to mop the floor or give a towel, much less ask if we wanted another beer. If this place stays open more than a few months I would suggest reviewing the books because it's probably a laundering front. When i see "Texas Crawfish and Seafood" I think boudin balls, alligator bites, Crawfish and a nice assortment of well prepped seafood from flounder and gulf shrimp to snapper and the other multitude of local fish, not some frozen-reheated junk with Tony's seasoning sprinkled over it. Save your time and money and find...
Read moreI was visiting TX and saw this Asian fusion seafood restaurant on my way home to LA. The parking lot was large. It could hold many cars, RVs, or trailers. We didn’t make a reservation to dine tonight. Thankfully it was not a busy night, and we were seated immediately. I just really wanted to eat some fresh seafood.
What an exceptional Alligator appetizer it tasted delightful. It was not over fried this takes real skill not to overcook this dish. We ordered 1 dozen Half Shell oysters. We quickly slip those fresh oysters down the gullet. Though the best tasting oyster at this location is the dozen grilled oysters with a crab topping, yummy. The complex textures and flavors were fit for a king. Now it was time for the Crawfish Special, Snow Crab legs 3CL, 1 pound of boiled shrimp and Grilled Snapper dinner. Our entrée was different but extraordinary. The Asian style of a seafood boil is a spicy paste on the outside of the shell. The chef’s skills were authentic, what a culinary experience to dine here.
Oh no, this location does not have a full bar. They do server bottled beer, wine, soda, and sweet tea. I enjoyed a cold Heineken and My husband loved their sweet tea. Our server was excellent and talkative. He was knowable about every item on the menu. The front of house crew motto must be “anything to help”. It was a bit of a drive home and I have a large, sweet tooth while driving. So, one Togo turtle cheesecake please.
I encourage you to look...
