I've been shopping at this HEB for over twenty years and in recent years it's only gone downhill. First they stopped carrying the HEB organics cheese blocks, then the quality of their produce went down and so often the peaches, avocado, papayas, or soursops which are $10/lb are actually rotten inside. Then last week when I overpacked two paper bags and took a couple of extra ones, the assistant manager literally walked over and took them out of my shopping cart! When I went back to ask him what is up with that when 9/10 times I use my own reusable bags and their cashier's always bag one item per plastic bags for people he told me that " other customers are unhappy when we place more than one item per plastic bag". I asked him if the other customers matter more than me and he told me that they have a budget for bags. So I asked again if that budget covers their cashier's bagging an item per bag for 100s of items in a shopping cart but somehow I can't take a couple of extra paper bags when I have stuffed my other two bags to the rim, he said that if I wanted to bag one item per paper bag there's nothing they can do to stop me. I asked why then I don't get a discount when I bring my reusable shopping bags and he said that I can scan some newly added QR code on the self checkout and be entered for a chance to win a a gift card at the end of September. Today I decided to scan said QR code. It's a VERY basic Microsoft form that doesn't even have the HEB logo and only asks for your phone number. Nothing else! Toy don't even get a text confirmation of your entry! The sign says that you get 2 entries if you bring your own bag and 1 if you but a reusable bag now. I asked the cashier what's up with the form and how it worked and he told me doesn't know. I asked for a manager to come who also didn't know! She said that you just enter your phone number and that's it. I asked how will it know to give me 2 entries instead of 1? She said it's on the honor system .... No comment. Instead of getting with the times and trying to protect the environment and 1) charging customers who use plastic bags 2) actually having a meaningful system that encouraged customers to bring reusable bags, HEB is just doing lame raffles that can be easily manipulated!! So we gotta have an account to use the coupons in the app, but you guys can't figure out how to use the receipts and the app accounts to give people rewards for trying to protect our environment?!

There are a lot of employees working, but the general friendliness was somewhat diminished. I warmly greeted my checkout team, one dude grunted, the other told me he had been at his second job til 1 am and was just really tired. I get it. The store is giant, clean and has lots of choices. However, when I asked for the dairy, I found the milk, yogurt and sour cream. The cheese was with the meat? What? Not all cheese, because the cottage cheese was with the dairy. And then there is also fancy cheese at the deli. Overall, I probably will shop here again because it is convenient, clean, lovely produce, meats and bakery area. Maybe the two ladies I shared my cheese quandary with will take the critique to the authority. Meanwhile their pastry is delicious! And, I hear they are employee owned, which I think is a great biz model.

Great store. Restrooms are always clean. I do inspect the restroom of each business i go to. You need to try the sliced jalapeño cheese bread from the deli. Great with burgers, sandwiches. On the weekend they have Mi Tienda tamales in the coolers you see around the store. Buy them!. You'll thank me..update 12/5/21.. HEB...bruh, what happened to the Mi Tienda tamales? I bought some of the HEB brand tamales today wrapped in foil. Five count for $10.99. I got home unpacked my groceries and opened the HEB tamales, and all 5 were raw mass, i couldn't even eat them. I wasn't about to go fight traffic just to get my $11 back. Was truly sad, might have cried a little as I threw my tamales away .lol. seriously did hurt to throw away money.

I came into the store at Bay Colony and went to the self check out to complete my shopping. I was behind an elderly lady that was self checking out as well. As she was completing her check out, she has a scowl on her face, and asked to speak to one of the managers. A young man came forward and asked her what he could help her with. The elderly lady immediately started complaining. Complaining about how the credit card fit in the machine, why does it ask so many questions..... on and on. Things that this young man has no control over. And I watched this young man answer all her questions with such compassion and grace. You could tell...... she wasn't complaining, she was lonely and wanted someone to talk to. The young man's name is Brandon. To the manager of this particular HEB, Brandon, demonstrated the epitome of an exemplary employee. I can honestly say, to watch him turn the whole situation around, from this elderly lady objecting everything to smiling and just chatting away with him was one of the sweetest things I've seen in a long time. She started out as a customer and he made her feel like she had a friend, even if it was only for a few short minutes. THAT is customer service. He is 1000% an asset to your company. And to our community. Time that this occurred:...

I was planning on leaving a positive review today for the experience I had earlier this week, but the experience I just had wipes that out.

Thanks for ruining gameday HEB! they have been advertising their ready to eat chicken wings for the past few weeks, they arent bad arent great either. Regardless they have been advertising them for sale on the weekends from 1030am to 7pm.

I planned on buying several dozen for a football party today for a game that starts at 11am. So I show up at 1020, at 1035 when the wings still arent out I ask the deli. They tell me the wings were just put in and wont be ready for 25 minutes!!!!

So 11am, when the game starts. Well I go to leave and I see a manager, I ask him what manager he is whether the store manager, assistant store manager, grocery manager, csm, and he wont tell me. I tell him the issue he says "oh I hear ya man. I'll have to see what we can do to prevent that in the future." To which I responded with two solutions, I said "either start cooking sooner or change your sign to say 11am-7pm."

Now I'm going to watch the game with no wings in hand which means I'll now have to pay extra to get wings delivered or miss part of the game and run back out...

HEB you let me down today, not so much the wings either, mostly the customer...
