THE BAAN THAI RESTURAUNT ON 4TH STREET IS CLEARLY PREJUDICE AGAINST FOLKS WITH A DARKER HUE!!
I had eaten there today and words simply can't describe the feelings I had coming out of this place today. First, we sat down and the waiter immediately brought us water, and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. I noticed everyone who came after us was asked. Second, the waitress came to the table and stood there to take our order without any type of greeting whatsoever and said nothing!! Third, our food came out one at a time. I have never eaten anywhere where the food came out at one time. But again, everyone else food came out at once. Fourth, there was a total of two waiters and two waitresses who came out to all the tables in the establishment and refilled all drink cups but mine!! They came to the table two times to make sure if needed them to take care of the check. They even came back, with the water container in their hand after pouring the tables around us and still didn’t even fill our empty cups. Fifth, we got the check before they came back to check on us once!! So lastly, I didn’t leave any tip. Normally I leave at least 15% tip, but today I dint believe I should. I cannot leave a tip for an establishment who doesn’t see me!! All money is the same color. They could have at least pretended to do their job even if they felt this way toward people of a darker completion. If they didn’t want by business, I would have been of if it were a sign on the front door that reads “WE DON’T SERVE...
Read moreThey are rude! I ordered soft spring rolls. I received fried ones. I called and explained their wrong order I was told to just give my name and they would give me a replacement on my next visit. I went I called in my order tonight and asked for my credit and told them my name they said they would adjust it. When I got there they refused! A woman a regular manager approached me and said “I got the crunch spring rolls last time and I would have had to BRING THE FOOD back in when it happened!” First of all that’s a health department violation. It’s also not what I was told the night it happened. They made a mistake and refused to make it right. The manager actually started a scene. The thing is I call in take out from here every Thursday night I have for about five years. I get the same thing every single time. I know to say soft spring rolls. It’s the principle they messed up refused to have accountability then had the audacity to tell me I would have had to bring it clear across town for them to fix it? No! I’ve also brought family and friends there had tickets that are over $200 and on more than 3 occasions were told we need to leave at 8:40 because they close at 9. This wasn’t about a “corrected appetizer” that costs $6, but about appreciation for supporting them weekly for several years. I’ve dealt with their rude demeanor but tonight’s disrespectful scene was enough to never go back. So if you enjoy rude staff and refusal to correct a mistake this is the place to be treated like a nuisance rather...

I came in hungry and hopeful, armed with dreams of rich curry and wok-kissed noodles. I left with a mild case of disappointment… and possibly a layer of mystery-stickiness on my shoes.
I ordered the Pad See Ew and Tom Kha soup, two of my go-to Thai comfort dishes. The Pad See Ew? Kinda sad see ew. Noodles were limp, sauce was forgettable, and the whole thing felt like it wanted to be bold but ended up just… beige. The Tom Kha had all the creamy coconut promise, but tasted like it missed a few key ingredients—and maybe a hug. Not the worst I’ve ever had, but certainly not a reason to come back.
Now let’s talk ambiance: hot, humid, and suspiciously sticky. Every surface, including the air, felt like it had been lightly coated in sweet chili glaze and never wiped down. The chairs were being held together with duct tape—literal tape—and the whole place gave off “last-minute garage sale” energy.
Service? Not rude, but definitely not warm. It felt less like being served and more like interrupting someone’s day. Quick, blunt, and not particularly welcoming. I wasn’t expecting a five-star experience, but I’d at least like to feel like my presence wasn’t a burden.
Honestly, I’ve been to a lot of Thai spots, and this one just didn’t hit. Based on the number of glowing reviews, maybe folks around here haven’t had truly standout Thai food. Or maybe they’re grading on a curve. Either way, I’m probably not coming back unless someone...
