EDIT: update 4 years later.
I'm changing my 1 star to a 4 star review 🌟 Service was excellent. Atmosphere is excellent. Food is subpar. Prices are excellent.
Service was amazing - we had 5 seperate waitress/waitresses checking up on us. One server even did a "magic" trick where he made the train stop abruptly after having me knock on the class 3x - the kids were baffled. And another one was playing peek-a-boo with the kiddos to keep them distracted while I paid for the bill. I came back for the experience. I brought my 3 tiny kiddos and they LOOOOOVED sitting at the glass table with the toy train going around in circles - very magical and exciting for them! And they really enjoyed looking around at all the cool train decorations on the wall. I'm still not impressed with the food. It's not bad, but it's not a place you come back for the food (even if the prices are REALLY good). Green beans are still from a can...? The steak was definitely not "rare", again, like I had asked. The Mac and cheese was just normal craft - my 5 year old can make that at home all by himself, so it doesn't make sense to eat them at a restaurant. And the portions were really small: my 5 year old and 3 year old both finished their food, then asked for more. However, the prices are awesome 👌 I didn't hesitate to get both still-hungry kiddos a second helping because the kid's menu items are only $5! We only spent around $40 for 6 meals (5 of which were kid's menu items, but still).
POSTED 4 YEARS AGO 1 Star 🌟 I was really excited to visit about 2 months ago because of how cute and historic the decor was! The inside is still really cool, but entire experience was really quite terrible, i wish i hadn't wasted time and money...!
There was one waitress that was doing a superb job! Poor thing kept having to take over tables for other incompetent waitresses. The one waitress was very personal; she would crouch down next to the table to take our order and never messed up our order. She also was prompt to come back when we needed something and take our dirty dishes or fill glasse. Whereas the others would come to our table, look lost, ask what the order was again, and again instead of writing it down, and never filled our drinks even after we asked her to. The good waitress is the biggest reason I'd love to change my review...! However, the food was worse.....
My "rare" meat wasn't cooked correctly at all! It's like no one had ever asked the chef for "rare" before, it was undercooked, but not a beautiful reddish/pink; more like mushy rawness. It tasted like a frozen burger, flash thawed, and i felt like i could taste the freezer burn. My husbands fish tasted like it was cooked in a similar way. Frozen, microwaved, cold on the inside, and mushy. The green beans were DEFINITELY straight...
Read moreWe visit Leavenworth regularly and always eat at Pullman's. This time we stayed for two weeks and worked out of a hotel around the corner. We planned to eat most of our meals there based on past experience and proximity, but we only had one (our first day in town). I walked to the restaurant and ordered two breakfasts to go. The woman (hostess?) at the cash register was apparently having a bad day as evidenced by the deep sighs and the eye rolls at everything I ordered like this was the most difficult and complicated order she's ever taken (two bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches, orange juice and milk). When I asked for the eggs to be fried well she snapped, "You're getting scrambled!" I was so taken aback that we didn't return to Pullman's for the duration of our stay. The up side is that we found several other good restaurants in Leavenworth. During a pandemic, when restaurants are hit hardest, it's bad business to treat customers poorly. Based on the cost of my order that morning ($22.78), Pullman's lost $296 in lost breakfast revenue alone, and that doesn't count the many lunches and dinners we would have ordered for the two weeks we were there. I'm giving them two stars because the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I wanted (scrambled vs fried). No stars for the "service" that left me feeling embarrassed and...
Read moreMy family and I were in town on business and were recommended this place to eat a nice, homestyle dinner. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer. The breading had a weird flavor and was not that appetizing. The recommended soup (tomato) of the day was OK. My daughter's milk cup was REALLY small and she had to get multiple refills as she is a milk drinker. She did not like her quesadilla and we sent it back to get chicken strips. I ordered the chicken fried chicken but they brought out chicken fried steak. When I got the chicken friend chicken it was actually pretty decent; however, the mashed potatoes were DISGUSTING. It tasted like it came out of a box and was watered down. The carrots tasted VERY funny and I didn't eat more than a bite. The roll provided with the meal was dry and not good at all. I gave 2 stars because the waitress was nice and interacted with my daughter quite well. Wish I would of addressed this at the restaurant to ask for my money back but we were in a hurry to get back home. I will not be going back to this place...
