This Denny's had a great physical makeover. Too bad they can't seem to find experienced and knowledgeable kitchen help. I ordered the French Toast special which came with: 2 slices of French Toast, 2 eggs, hash browns, 1 piece of bacon. 1 piece of sausage, a glass of juice and coffee. I exchanged tea for coffee. My waitress was pleasant. When my food came (very slowly). I received warm hash browns, French toast that wouldn't even melt the whipped butter, cold and tough overcooked bacon and sausage, cold eggs. The waitress laid it all down and walked off. I ate the hash browns and( French toast, mixing in my over easy cold eggs, to try and warm them. By the time the waitress came back to see how things were, I told her about the cold food. She offered to have the cook(?) redo the order, but I declined due to time constraint and lack of confidence that the 2nd plate would be any different. When I told the waitress how cold, old and overcooked the sausage and bacon were, she said "he (cook) is by himself, so....". Was that supposed to excuse being served this way? The meat was petrified and stone cold, like it was overcooked in the morning, and left all day to be rewarmed by an inexperienced cook who can't be bothered to cook it fresh. It was like taken from a cooler and placed on a plate under the warming lights. Not Acceptable! The waitress brought me a 25% coupon. As I was finishing, a manager appeared from the back office and seated people at a table next to mine. He proceeded to talk with these customers, telling them how much goes on in the office, how tired he was and how he had to place food orders, schedule employees, count money, on and on. If he had time to stand there and talk, why couldn't he help the cook who clearly was not able to handle running the kitchen by himself. By the way, it was not crowded at...
Read moreIt’s Dennys – you know what you’re getting. The food is consistent and it’s open 24h. We arrived at 6:30pm in Lebanon NH and went to Denny’s because I was craving breakfast for dinner. It was semi full and we were seating immediately. The waiter was great and got us water immediately – while this is something that should happen immediately at all restaurants, it doesn’t happen more often than you’d think or like. We settled into our booth. I over ordered the Lumberjack Slam: 2 pancakes, grilled ham, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, 2 eggs made to order, crispy hash browns and buttered white toast. The grilled ham was surprisingly good. By dinner, the hash browns were nice and crispy (they can be a little less crispy during the morning rush). The portions are always generous and there was no way I was finishing this but I ordered it anyway. The “two fluffy buttermilk pancakes” were a sleeper hit and my group collectively dug in to finish them – they are surprisingly fluffy and good. The Bourbon Chicken Skillet with grilled chicken breast served over potatoes, broccoli, bell peppers & onions and mushrooms – it was a solid choice and the bourbon sauce was not heavy or offensive. We enjoyed the Crazy Spicy Skillet with grilled chicken breast, chorizo sausage, bell peppers & onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, potatoes topped with cheddar cheese, spicy 5-pepper sauce and pepper jack queso. The only compliant we had was the onion rings – we ordered a side order and for $5.19 then received 5 rings (see photo) – there is no way that these basic frozen deep fried onion rings were worth $1 apeice. Overall a happy and pleasant experience and we would go back but we won’t be order the onion...
Read moreWe ate brunch at Dennys in Lebanon on Saturday, my wife having breakfast and I having lunch. We like this place because no matter what time of day they have something good that we're in the mood for. (Bad grammar:( ) However, the purpose of this post is to recognize a server of excellent ability. Emily is young but wise beyond her years. Throughout the meal, she kept stopping by our table to keep us aware of the progress with our food because the place was packed, and the kitchen backed up. This would be the time to expect to receive mediocre food, but it was great. BUT most importantly, I need to point out Emily's exceptional service. First, we just sat down, and Emily brought me a glass of water with ice and coffee for my wife. Maybe 2 minutes later, I was thinking about asking for another glass after guzzling down the first. I looked up to see her as she set down a second glass! PSYCHIC? Must be because a few minutes later, my wife set down her empty coffee cup at the same time Emily set down a small personal coffee pot. The sign of a talented server is one who anticipates their customer's needs. She was buried with customers but still provided the best service we've received at any restaurant, regardless of meal price. My recommendation is that you ask for Emily if you dine there, but I expect with her abilities she will be gone soon, moving up the...
