the Paradise is a local staple that has held on to certain aspect of originality but has also let some things fall short, so let me explain. general ran by a group of high schoolers, and this is great to promote business and management practice, but while running this way with the ratio I seen saturday, I was able to feel the originality. my order was taken by what I was guess to be a 15, 16 yr old whom only memorized the basics off the menu so good thing for for a wall menu display on the side so please know your order before hand to help the ones taking your order, they confuse easily at times. Though the group of youngsters seemed to create a fun and playful work environment, a level of professionalism would have carried this a long way, but hey, it's just ice cream. the overall variety was actually quite the selection and while the ice cream wasn't cold stone folded, it still had that handmade creamy texture. I went with the waffle cone and double scoop of bubblegum, my son wanted a scoop of old English toffee and my wife grabbed the Paradise Nachos using blueberry ice cream and raspberry sauce with chocolate drizzle and crushed peanuts while my daughter didnt want anything but thats understandable since we just left BackroadsBBq, making these to destinations an amazing pair of neighbors. the Paradise offers a small seating area out front while waiting for orders and some stay to eat, but there are spot scattered area a small play area for children which was quite nice but we had grown kids so we sat in our car and enjoyed our snacks. the prices were fair and reasonable for all the items we seen, but the extras or added toppings can increase fast but won't break your pocket. will we be returning, yes, we are local and the...
Read moreI visited this shop as a pit stop on a bike trip from Thorntown to Lebanon and back along the Heritage Trail. It was a sunny evening in mid April, and business was already hopping, at both the window service and the drive-thru. As other reviewers mentioned, service was slow, but they were friendly enough. I got a mint chip flurry, and my husband got the homemade vanilla. The ice cream was pretty good, but I have had better. I'm rather an ice cream coneseur. The sizes were pretty standard for this part of the country. The people in front of me ordered a small soft serve, which I would say was about 3/4 cup in size. My husband got a two-dip homemade ice cream, and I would say it was about a cup and a half. I got a large flurry, and I would say it was about a 16 oz size, or 2 cups. There were several outdoor picnic tables as well as a fenced in playground for kids. This was a fun stop as part of our day, and I would go back, but from a purely ice cream review standpoint, it would not reach my top five list for best ice cream. Definitely worth a...
Read moreFantastic pit stop for little kids. We got delicious hand-dipped ice cream and hot ham & cheese sandwiches. The mint ice cream was particularly good, and the staffers were friendly and quick. There was a shaded pavilion as well as lots of picnic tables on grass, with pea gravel under the playground structure. It has several nice small slides, and 6 baby/toddler swings as well as 6 regular swings. The tall big kids structure only has ladders to get to it, so stair-climbing toddlers can’t sneak up there. It is right off the highway, which was awesome. There is a wooden fence between the playground and busy road, which was enough to keep my child away from danger, but a more adventurous kid might be able to climb through it. (The only suggestions would be to upgrade to a picket fence, and plant fast-growing trees or rig up some of those playground tarp things for shade). We were SO thrilled to discover this place and will be back on our next road trip...
