White Castle — Restaurant in Lebanon

Disappointed. I'd visited a White Castle some years ago on other trips further east from the northern plains (the chain has indicated they don't plan to expand west to my state), so when I spotted the marquee along the highway just when I was starting to think about grabbing some lunch, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to 'indulge the CRAVE' after getting by with frozen for quite some time, and pull in. Imagine how disappointed I was when I found the lobby had been closed in favor of drive-through service only. I'm deaf, you see. Nobody that shut down their lobby service in favor of drive-through service even took a moment to consider how to accommodate the deaf / hard of hearing population. Oh sure, there are apps and third party delivery services, you say, but those don't make sense when you just need to grab a quick bite of food on the way somewhere. Well, I was rather disappointed this evening. As a vegetarian, I was super excited to see that White Castle is now offering plant-based Impossible Burgers. I have had these burgers several times around Indy and have been amazed at how much like meat they are in their appearance, taste, and texture. After a VERY long wait, I pulled my Impossible Burger out of the bag, took a bite, and was immediately disappointed. It was mushy, full of onions, and so salty that I could only eat a portion of it. Biting into the second one, I found it also too salty to eat. I'm very appreciative of White Castle for trying to offer plant based options, but perhaps they should work to ensure the palatability of new products before rolling out. The White Castle mini hamburgers have been in my life for many years. It is an experience in fast food that shouldn't be missed by anyone. This location that I visited in Lebanon Indiana provided fast and accurate service. The food was hot and fresh as expected. The people working there were professional and seemed to handle customers with pride.

I was in the drive thru so I don't have much to say about the rating of the "atmosphere" but, experience tells me that they have to be on the top of the list of cleanest fast food restaurants.
