Greetings all! I've been a longtime fan of The Airport Diner, back when it was located at the actual airport in Fitchburg. At that time I worked quite close to the diner and let me tell you, I was there A LOT - sometimes daily! I'll start by saying I've NEVER had a bad meal there. With the food there I fell in love with the home-cooked feel and of course taste of the food. Whether it was a meatloaf dinner on a cold day or the buttery taste of a grilled cheese sandwich that we all love when we make it at home - it just always felt like 'home'.
Most importantly, over the years, I developed friendships with the staff. But mainly with one of the owners, Gene. He's a true friend of mine I'm proud to say. Every time I went in I always was greeted with true warmth and clever wit (those of you that know Gene know this trait!). I always sat at the counter so I could chat with the staff, and have lots of laughs.😊
Honestly I've only been to the new location a couple of times, but that is only because I'm not in that area much any more and live/work further away. But for the times I did go, I was never disappointed. In fact, the last time I went, I ate breakfast and lunch in one sitting! That is NOT to say that the breakfast was not filling! It simply means I cannot pass up a...
Read moreI just moved from Worcester to Leominster and was worried I wouldn’t find a good breakfast place. I decided to go yesterday and I can say my worries are gone lol. Upon entering I was greeted warmly by Gene & Steve. The atmosphere was welcoming, clean and tidy. The server was beyond accommodating and got me my nice hot coffee. I ordered bacon, home fries and Italian grilled toast. I was actually asked how I want the fries and bacon which I truly appreciated. The food came out hot and a slice of watermelon topped it. I’m very picky about my food after all I’m Italian! The grilled toast was good not saturated with a ton of real butter. The bacon was as I ordered. Now let’s talk about home fries.I’ve been places where they had zero taste, hard, but these my friends I was pleasantly surprised. Soft, balanced right with onions and the taste was perfect! Delicious! The service was right up there, my coffee was topped off without me wanting or asking. So it’s safe to say I will be a frequent “flyer” no pun intended. It nice to see pride still is alive in a business these days and it shines threw Gene & Steve. A little gem in...
Read moreIt doesn't get any better than Gene & Steve's Airport Diner. The entire restaurant is SPOTLESS, fun ambience, the friendliest cooking and waitstaff around and the food is fabulous! I hadn't gone out for breakfast in ages and returned to Gene & Steve's and it's as great as it always was. Cooked to order! I had the Sausage Eggs Benedict special with real home fries (no grated potato hash browns here) and it was delicious. Huge cup of coffee - no wimpy little coffee cup that has to be repeatedly refilled because one gulp empties it. You've gotta check out their homemade baked fruit squares. I'll hafta go back soon to check out their homemade banana bread. For us older customers, it's a no-stairs entry and the staff gives you the feeling of "eating at Grandma's" only much much better. THIS is the diner...
