I went there this morning with my wife and son and made our order. I could see our plates sitting on the window for 10 minutes before our waitress brought them over, and they of course weren't even warm. I asked the waitress for another one (she asked me if I wanted it a new one, I said yes), but it came back 60 seconds later from being in a microwave. I sent that one back, and the chef came out and tried to tell me it was just as good and argued with me about it. I had to explain to the chef the difference, and that I don't go out to a restaurant to eat microwaved food.
Eventually he brought me out another one, and the difference was of course night and day. When done right, the food there is good. There's a reason we've been going to this diner for 10 years.
When my wife asked about being comped for my plate because I had to argue with the chef, the waitress, and my plate came several minutes after my wife and son were done with their food, the manager was openly hostile with her and threatened to call the police. That was odd because at no point did either of us so much as raise our voice, we just calmly asked. Several of the other customers that were in line and at tables looked at the manager like she was from mars. She told us we weren't welcome there any more, and we had to leave right away.
There's new owners at this restaurant, and it really shows. When done right their food is still decent, but they don't respect their customers so it's just...

It was Mother’s Day so I expected a long wait. When we arrived, the parking lot was full and there were several groups waiting to be seated outside.
We were greeted by the very friendly hostess outside who promptly took my name and number in my party (4). She assured me it would be only a few minutes. As we sat there waiting for a table, droves of satisfied customers exited the restaurant with smiles on their faces and presumably full bellies. Not 10 minutes later our name was called and it was our turn to be seated.
The place was packed - a great sign that I picked a good place.
The four of us were crammed into a small booth likely better suited comfortably for two adults, but it was me with three kiddos.
We were promptly greeted by our server who took our drink order and brought them out quickly. Meanwhile, the boys and I choose our entrees and the rest is history!
The food was great! Perfect diner style brunch items. One thing that stood out to me though - the coffee. Most diners have watered down, old coffee, but my cup of Joe today tasted fresh and full of flavor.
Our food was brought out quickly and was DELICIOUS! All three kids practically licked their plates clean! Even I ate everything on my plate.

Read moreSo we tried to go to Dennys but it was a mad house with poor service. So we went to the North End Diner which was a 5 min drive from there. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were sat at our boothe in less than 10 minutes. The gentleman on the door was very polite and helpful. Took our name and got us seated fast. The waiter and bus girl were helpful. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Our waiter was very good,he even came back to check if everything was good with our food. Thumbs up for that. Our food was delicious. We ordered two #6 combo breakfasts. One french toast with sausage the other pancakes with bacon and spicy home fries. The portions are worth the money. This place does not skimp on the portions. The plain pancakes get a 9.5 Plain French toast 8.0 Home fries nice and crispy and creamy 8.5 Bacon and sausage 8.5 Scrambled eggs also with cheddar cheese. 9.5 Overall Northend Diner get a 9.5 rating.
