I hadn’t been to Lewes, DE since 1991-1992, so while exploring and seeing what has changed. I happened upon Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant, which I learned opened in 1996. I never pass an opportunity for a pint or the traditional Irish meals an Irish pub offers. I was a bit concerned I might have to wait because the parking lot and streets were full. I walked in and was immediately seated. The inside is huge. Lots of seating. They were setting up for live music inside, so I opted for a table out on the deck and watch the sunset. I ordered a pint of Guinness, portobello fries, and the corned beef and cabbage for dinner. Irish Eyes did not disappoint! The portobello mushroom fries were a hearty size. Easily could have been shared. It is no exaggeration that I had the absolute best corned beef and cabbage that I’ve ever tasted in numerous restaurants and pubs over the years. It was just fabulous. It is no wonder Irish eyes is celebrating 30 years here. I was too full for desert, but was not rushed after my meal and was able to enjoy the atmosphere and live music for a bit. As I was leaving, I could see a lot of happy faces. People were talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves as one might expect. There were even a few who had taken to the dance floor in front of the live band. This is definitely a place I recommend you visit if you’re looking for an Irish pub in the Lewes or Rehoboth beach area.

Great food, bad service. I came here with my girlfriend’s family. Once we got seated, we waited ~15 minutes for someone to come and serve us. We actually had to ask someone where our server was and she said that she’d get him/her. But it actually ended up being her. After we placed our orders, we waited about 20-30 minutes for our food. The food was great. I had the Banger & Mash, which was excellently made. It tasted great. And I really liked the Guinness Stout soup/sauce on top. It really added a great flavor to the dish. My girlfriend’s grilled shrimp came out cold, but tasted okay. It tasted like it was chilled on ice and just recently taken off. When we asked if that was regular, our waiter said no and checked with the kitchen. My guess is either the shrimp had been laying out for a few hours or they took it out of the freezer and didn’t properly heat it up (probably via microwave). Also, she never came back and told us what the chef said or anything. My girlfriend’s family got the fish and chips and also the steak and crab cake. Both were very good, they said. We a table next to us sit at their table for 30 minutes without having any waiter come up to serve them. Also, when they asked, another waiter helped to get them drinks but forgot to get them waters and only got the ones who ordered sodas, the sodas. They eventually left after asking many times. Another table next to us wait a lot of time after finishing for their check. And also we had to wait a while for our check to. It’s pretty much like if you don’t ask, you won’t get it for a while. Overall, service was terrible but the food was great. Unfortunately, I can only give this restaurant two stars because of the bad service. Food makes up a lot but the other smaller aspects add up.

We ate here twice on two consecutive Saturdays. We had a group of 6 and were seated immediately during peak dinner time on Labor Day weekend which was impressive. What I found to be really neat and unique was there was a kids TV area setup! I had the Lewes quesadilla (crab and shrimp) the first time and it was good and I finished it but I was stuffed. The second time I ordered a chicken Philly with peppers and onions. I asked for provelone instead of American cheese but the sandwich still showed up with American. I didn’t complain but it wasn’t as good in my opinion as a result. Due to other appetizers, I took part of that sandwich home. I preferred the quesadilla amongst the two. The outdoor dining area is huge. Spacious, covered and perfect on a nice night. Service was great and we overall really enjoyed it. It’s also nice being along the dock with boats as if gave us a place to take our toddler for walks before our food arrived or during the meal when he grew tired of sitting. Lots of free parking in the gravel lot as well.
