Lots of amazing reviews so was super excited to try this quaint little restaurant. It's fairly small inside but very nice environment inside and dog friendly outside patio and in a really cute little court. Wait staff was friendly enough. Food was really disappointing. I got scrambled eggs, home fries and a stack of pancakes. Eggs weren't "scrambled". It was like an omelete with only egg. Just one big piece of cooked egg. There was absolutely no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. Adding some salt and pepper helped. Home fries were too mushy for me and again, absolutely no flavor. Both eggs and home fries were seriously bland. The pancakes were better. Had a decent flavor but were gummy. When you try to cut, they sort of fight you, just want to stay gummed together. Had to ask for butter for the pancakes. They give you those tiny tubs that you have to pick and pick at the tiny corner to peel the top off. I am willing to try something different there so hopefully the next trip will change my mind, but if not, very...
Read moreOur food and service lived up the the name of “eggcellent”! We ordered the Mediterranean Chicken sandwich (minus the olives), the Monster burger, the kids silver dollar pancakes and a decaf cafe con leche. The onion rings on the burger were very good and it was loaded with avocado. The chicken sandwich was perfect. Soft and slightly toasted bread, juicy and flavorful! If I came back I would certainly order the same thing again. Our food came out surprisingly fast and with a toddler, we appreciated it! My wife said that the reviews mentioned a good hot sauce so I tried it (peach vidalia onion) and it was great! I mixed it with ketchup for the perfectly crisp and hot fries and would suggest others do the same. Sweet and flavorful without too much heat! If I could change one thing is would be to have the fries served in a separate container. I found my juicy chicken sandwich to drip and I used a napkin to keep that liquid away from the crispy fries...
Read moreEggcellent has now become a must do on our annual summer vacation to the Lewis Rehoboth area. The food has been consistently great year in and year out.
This is a busy resort town and parking is tight as you would expect. What is fun to park a distance away and window shop on our way to the restaurant.
after many return visits, at this point, we have tried practically everything on the menu. And it is all indeed excellent. Portions are very, very generous. And that doesn’t count the add on toppings like fresh fruit, and whipped cream.
staff is always on the ball and very accommodating. The ambience is kind of eclectic farmhouse Café decor. But an important part of the ambience is that everyone eating there is in a good mood because they are on vacation. This is one of the few restaurants where you’re going to strike up a conversation with people at the next table and share ideas of what to do at the shore.
We definitely highly...
