This was my second time eating at Harbour, and I will never dine there again. My grandparents have lived in Lewes for thirty years; My mother for ten. The moment my family and I entered the restaurant, we received dirty looks and it seemed that our presence was an inconvenience in itself. God forbid a family-town restaurant hosts a family with children on Mother’s Day Weekend. We were made to wait outside before our table was ready, although we were on time for our reservation, and we had to wheel our stroller back down the stairs before wheeling it back up just moments later. The stairs-only restaurant made it difficult for my elderly grandfather and my stroller-bound son to enter. To make matters even worse, the restaurant did not have any accommodations for families with young children. We were not offered a high-chair so he remained in the stroller. There was a gender neutral restroom in addition to the women’s restroom, both of which had no changing table, resulting in me and my spouse having to wheel our son in his stroller out of the restaurant AGAIN, walk two blocks to our car, change him in the trunk of our car, walk two blocks back to the restaurant, to discover upon our return that the entrees had been served and our family had completely finished eating their meals. We were rushed to order cocktails and wine and we hadn’t an opportunity to even look at any of the menus. When ordering appetizers, we were told we needed to put entrees in at the same time, again, rushing us to make a decision. Our waitress, Kim, was not friendly or welcoming in the slightest bit. She had worked at Lewes Yacht Club previously. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best, serving small portions for a hefty price. I left starving, and my spouse was given a farewell gift of food poisoning. As someone who grew up in Lewes, it is simultaneously disappointing that this restaurant juxtaposes with our lovely beach town, and that this was the restaurant at which I spent my first Mother’s Day. People are entitled to kid-free lives, but [you] are not entitled to a...
Read moreWow. Incredible. We haven't had a full meal this good in years. Wonderful experience!
We visited the area for our twenty-fourth wedding anniversary and found ourselves and my niece and her husband lucky enough to get a table just as a storm cleared through that chased some folks from the area. We ended up right on to of the canal as the sun was heading down. What a great setting.
Let's start with the cocktails. Superb mixologist. Frankly I had only been to one or two other places with their own mix master but now I'll seek then out more. This gent had some wonderful inventions and we all enjoyed our drinks from yummy martinis to something sorry with a flower on it to something a bit spicy. Id try to recall more specifically what we had but this was a few weeks ago and between cocktails and wine what sticks on my mind is a great set of drinks. Speaking of wine the list want extensive (or as some would suggest the list wasn't so long as to cause a long drawn out delay in choosing a wine -ever been there?) but the list wasn't dull either with good vintage and cellars. We had a couple bottles of a delicious red suggested by our guests.
Our appetizers. Dang! I could've just ordered them all night. Shrimp toast, foie gras, and a couple of others we savored them slowly.
For our main dishes there were a couple of plates of scallops, I had the lamb pops, and for the life of me I don't recall what the Mrs had but it was all very yummy.
The evening was great. The staff was tops, the meal was served at a relaxed pace andone of the owners visited tables and she clearly enjoyed her customers and their happiness. As we walked back to the car with big smiles we agreed we are surely putting this spot on our...
Read moreThere is no date on this review, but it was about 2 years ago I would give the place 5 stars now. Update below. ... A great location. A shame about the management, they are so odd. Went in at 5:00 and they made some sort of big deal about eating at the bar even though there was no one in there. They had to check for availability. I was at the hostess stand and the people in front of me wanted to go to the bar before their reservation for a table at 5:30, she has to go look even though as I said, the bar was empty except for my friend waiting for me. I followed them into the bar and the hostess got all indignant about it, made me feel like I was a little kid being bad at school. She does let me sit down and we had dinner but the two bartenders were aloof. The guy was the worst. I had to ask for sugar for my iced tea, flag them down which wasn't easy, they didn't seem to want to look our way. My friend's drink was empty for quite a while, neither bartender asked her if she wanted another. My friend finally flagged the girl down and asked for one. There were more patrons outside that the bartenders were taking care of but they had zero hustle and zero personality. Strangely, the waiters that brought our food were very attentive and friendly. I don't even remember the food, it must have been good but was overshadowed by the weird vibe.
Update: We went last Saturday and everything was great. Excellent food. I had crabcake on a blue cheese salad and ate every bite, Good wine good drink, clams were good too, in a nice broth. My friend also had crab cakes. The hostess and waiter were very friendly. Great weather,...
