I’m a first timer… recommend by a team member at my work. He said “ they started in a gas station and now they have a restaurant”….. I said “enough said I’m going”!Let’s say they did not disappoint in anyway. I came during the lunch period on a snow day so I considered my self lucky as I was one of three customers. Tho I can imagine this place has to be normal packed. First thing I noticed was the vibrant art work surrounding the restaurant and the large windows allowing for plenty of natural light. Those who know me I’m big on atmosphere…. My waiter/ bartender/ cook named Oscar (over heard his name) was awesome very personable and delivered service with an authentic pleasant presence🙌✨! Through his engaging conversation I learned this was his family restaurant where he has been working since his early ages. Ok enough background…. Food is AAA for Amazingly, Awesome and Authentic!! No disappointments None!! I ordered the today’s special Charro beans which included spices and grilled sausage… I could have eaten this as the main course…. Sucks your goona have to catch it when you can… once again I felt lucky 🍀😋! I ordered 6 tacos 3 chicken 3 steak… popped with flavors and color. They make there sauces from scratch… the red one tho call the fire 🔥 department!!! lol. I’ll stick to the green one…. Both good I just caint handle the heat. Lastly ordered chips and Queso, phenomenal not watery. Eat it before it gets cold tho… still 😊 good 👍! Did I mention the open kitchen concept… you can watch your order being made with love 💕 care and attention and not slopped together behind some closed doors as in other establishments!! Well done on your progression from a gas station to a store front… I’m sure the journey was not easy its paying off in a big way!!

Stopped here again recently. Still excellent. The folks making the food are awesome - friendly and cheerful. They clearly love what they do. The food was great. High quality and delicious. My previous high praise still stands! What a great surprise. First, know that this restaurant is attached to the gas station. Second, know that this is not "gas station" food. The burrito and flautas were made with care and they were amazing. I think I have tried almost every Mexican restaurant in Maine, and this one is in the top of that category. The folks running the shop seemed to genuinely care that we had a good experience. The burrito, I had steak, was rich and earthy. The refried beans were especially good. The flautas had layers of flavor. If you like spicy, try the house red sauce. It is hot. Bottom line, if you are in Lewiston and are looking for some great Mexican food, give this a shot. You won't regret it.

This is one of those little places one passes by all the time without taking notice. Really just because it's location is part of a gas station, but, as other reviews mentioned, this is far from gas station food. It's a small place with sit-at-the-bar style dining (although I think they did have room for 1 or 2 small tables). Anyways, it was a Tuesday and I wanted tacos. I knew OF this place and decided to give it a try. Zero disappointment. One can watch the food being prepared by the, assumingly together couple that owns the place. They had a lot of conversation between them in Spanish which is a treat in this very French-Canadian part of the country. My very basic order of 3 tacos, beans & rice came with extra chips and salsa, and was under $10!!! Not only does El Pochos deliver on taste, but value as well. It's my go-to in the area now 😉

We used to live in more Southern USA States and have not been able to find good Mexican food like we had years ago, and we are not 5pm Dinner folk, so we miss out on Lots of Local places yah all close to darn Early, We went here my son had found it on line, we arrived it was very busy! It looked like maybe only a few staff working and hustling so we just stepped back out of the way best we could and patiently waited. Actually enjoyed watching the different dishes be delivered, a young couple with several young children, I enjoyed the memories of those days, some missed some not so much, but a Quick smile to the Mom that says You Got This! The staff was moving around very quickly doing an Amazing job, there was a young couple in front of us that got seated and we were pretty quickly seated next, table of 4 of us. The waiter came over with his hands full and said he would be right over for our drink order, he was. We had a few questions about some dishes due to food pickiness and he was able to answer, and recommended a dish that was Delicious picky eater was pleased with choice wants to go back! We all ordered Different dishes to try and everything was delicious! We can Ynot wait to go back. The Wait staff did an amazing job, getting the tables of people in and out. The cooks did an excellent job, for the amount of dishes being put out of such a small kitchen is just an astounding job well done! Every dish was served hot fresh and delicious. The Atmosphere is Busy! Lots of great Art work on the walls, High Tables with Chairs then also tables and chairs as you enter. A small bar in the back, a few people were sitting there having drinks and meals so it was very busy. We sat at one of the high Tables so we could see the Kitchen and Bar area and the staff was hustling and moving the whole time, they all did an excellent job. We were there on a Friday night, Cold rainy, at 7:30pm . Someone ate my leftovers so we definitely need to come...

Hi we went out with eight people last night to the El Pancho's and we had eight people eating dinner we had no service The owner the woman that was running around like an animal was very rude there were people waiting at the door and they couldn't seat them so they sent them away The people actually left because I didn't want to wait anymore The bartender had an attitude I went up to get some change and she made me wait there and everybody kept looking at me like what am I doing I was just looking for change to break $100 bill what else The best part of the place was Oscar our server he was the best he should be running that place that place was a ridiculous The food was terrible it's not Mexican they should have stayed at the gas station because it wasn't busy at the gas station like it was last night so if you want to wait and be ignored at the door and then the owner came over to the table and threatened to send me away because I went up and asked for some salsa and chips and she said go back to your seat and sit down it was that busy we were trying to help her we were there for a birthday celebration we will never ever ever ever go back to that place I'm sure other people have other responses about this place because I've been going to El Pancho's at the gas station but they are going to fail there are three people there was a server a drink deliverer a bartender and two cooks they can't handle the bigger crowds absolutely not they will fail especially the way the owner the lady had treated us last night like I said again the best place about this was their nephew Oscar he was the best so you guys can take your chances and go to this place Good luck that's all I have to say rude the service was very slow they don't have enough enough employees they are way understaffed The food's coming out way too fast and it's not done right Good...
