They attract a lot of good bands. However, one of their bartenders should be fired. I was invited to see a friend’s and and was buying beer one at a time without tipping with the intention of tipping at the end of the night. However, on my 3rd beer after 90 minutes, he said I was cut off and just gave me the dirtiest look. I’ve never been cut off in my entire life. I was just about to buy shots for my friends too, but we all decided to go somewhere with better service.
I’ve heard other similar experiences too, so there’s really no way myself or anyone I know is coming back, including some bands. I’ve been there dozens of times over the years, but it’s never impressed me. The only cool thing about the place now is that you can leave and go to a better bar across the street where you can drink while playing video games.
If you go there for a show, know the bartenders across the street will treat you kindly with respect. See your show at Al’s but do all your drinking elsewhere.
They don’t have food. The bathrooms are dirty. The...
Read moreAttending a weekday event with a cover charge I was followed to my table and informed by the pushy bartender that there was a 1 drink minimum. I had never heard of this at an event with a cover charge, kinda seems like a hidden fee and you should just charge an appropriate cover, but what do I know about running a business.
When I went to the counter the bartender went to serve 2 people who just walked into the bar while I was clearly waiting for him with eye contact after the last patron ordered. Then he loudly announced he was giving them both drinks on the house- if you are that worried about making yourself/the bar money don't give out free drinks.
I ended up getting a $5 coke cause I'm sober.
I've heard before that Brian is a piece of work- it was the in the first description a friend gave me of the bar- and this was my first interaction with him, so that tracks.
He's tight with the owners in some capacity so expect...
Read moreThis bar is obviously a dive bar, which is fine, but people constantly going in and out the door leading to the deck, obnoxiously allowing in copious amounts of second hand smoke had me saying I would never return. I returned a month later only to watch my brother's band play, and not one but two bartenders were immediately very rude and condescending to me, even laughing in my face. I overheard several others in the crowd complain about the bartenders ignoring them, and being very rude to them as well. If you want to keep a decent name, I'd suggest having your bartenders properly trained so they know what the hell they're talking about, and have them take a class in...
