Champions Kitchen — Restaurant in Lexington

Let me preface this by saying that the cashiers are such sweethearts and I’ve never had a bad experience with them! However, some of the employees here are uncouth and have such terrible attitudes. Once you get past the cashiers and you make it inside, it’s fair game.

The first time I came here, I went to grab a plate and someone behind the station slammed her hand on the stack of plates, telling me that I “can’t just grab it” and I “have to ask for it!” Why place the plates clearly within reach if they’re only available upon special request? The plates were about 6 inches away from the edge of the counter and they look exactly like all of the other plates. Please make that make sense. After charitably allowing me to take the plate, she walked away and openly complained to her colleagues about my egregious attempt.

More recently, I visited the buffet for breakfast and when I went to get pancakes, I noticed that some of them were significantly darker than others. Because of this I avoided the darker pancakes and picked up the golden brown ones instead. An employee literally leered at me the entire time and loudly said to a colleague, “I really hate when THEY [customers] do that. They’re [the pancakes] all the same. They’re all the same. They are all the same!” Clearly, they were not all the same. Why should I eat over-cooked pancakes when there are perfectly cooked pancakes right beside them? The fact that this lady felt comfortable enough to be loud and rude while standing 5 feet away from tells me all I need to know about the quality of service at this place.

It’s gotten to the point that I come to the buffet with a standoffish attitude, waiting for an employee to find any ol’ reason to say something out of pocket. Please do better.

Came to visit campus and decided to stop by and try. We first tried fresh food company and wasn't really happy at the money wasted, then we went to Champions and had a tour by Felicia before deciding to stay and eat. You can tell she was very passionate about her job And even recommended some places around campus that we could visit during our stay and answered all the questions we had about places on campus. The staff was very friendly and the student center is so big we got lost haha. Overall it was an a joy and we will be coming back when in town. 95% of the time, you will get good food. Plenty of food and drink options, with a lot of variety and local restaurants. A meal plan is definitely worth it if you are a student who cannot cook, and Champions Kitchen is better than The 90 in my opinion.
