A FANTASTIC food experience. On the way to bring our kids to the airport, we swung in for lunch. We were greeted immediately, and our waiter was nothing short of amazing from start to finish. We started with a large queso dip, and sweet teas. Hailing from NC, we have high tea expectations, and they were absolutely met. The queso had a fantastic consistency, unlike some of the “cheese water” you get elsewhere. My daughter and I got the Birra tacos, my son nachos, and my husband knew he was going to eat half of ours so he ordered a chile relleno and a chalupa. The birra tacos were nothing short of amazing. I was a little baffled to find chic peas in the consume (they were not good, so we just didn’t eat them) but the tacos themselves were outstanding. My son LOVED his nachos. My husband actually received a chile relleno and a tostada instead of what he ordered, but he eats pretty much everything so he ate them anyway. He LOVED the tostada (happy little accident LOL) and he didn’t love the chile relleno because it was fried, (he’s been to one restaurant where it wasn’t and loves those), but that’s his fault because he didn’t ask and he knows he doesn’t like them fried😂 I thought it...
Read moreMy wife and I were pumped to give Mazunte a shot after all the buzz about its grand opening.
Walking in, we were met with the only sign of hospitality in this building with a greet from a nice young lady telling us we could take a seat anywhere.
We decided on the bar top, only to realize it was more like an arm-wrestling match with the chairs. Awkward angles aren't exactly appetizing, folks.
And let's talk about the bandana wearing bartender – or should I say, disappearing act extraordinaire. Not a drop of water refill or a plate clear in sight, despite us being the sole souls in the joint. Talk about dropping the service ball.
Sure, the food was tasty, but when you're paying top dollar, you expect more than just a decent meal. Even the local taco truck treats us better than this place.
Consider this our one and only visit. Mazunte, you better step up your game, or you'll be serving your last taco before...
Read moreWent for dinner at 6pm with 4 friends on a Saturday. There were only three other parties in the restaurant, mostly empty. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes with no server coming to take a drink or food order, making us think maybe there was no table service. One of us went to the bar to ask where we could place an order and was told a server would come to our table in a few minutes. When a server showed up at the table, she jjust said, “What do you want?” Seemed like we were an annoyance for being there. Three of our meals were delivered and almost completely eaten before the other two meals, one of which was just soup, arrived at the table. The food itself was fine, one of us had tacos which were very good, and two of us ordered cocktails, which were also good. No issues with the food or drinks, and the decor is well done, but the service problems made it uncomfortable. I wouldn’t eat...
