I wanted to love this place, and I was craving some good lamb chops, I received a coupon in the mail for this place, so I thought I would try it. I looked at the menu online and the Lamb chops were price with MP ( Market Price) so I called to get it and they said $28 that's not too bad so I decided to head over. If you have never been here before, there are a few things in this review that will help. First you don't sit and be waited on, you order your food and then go to your table. The disadvantage of this is refilling your own drink at the coke freestyle machine plus its just not the traditional style of dining, but sadly, their prices reflex a mid tier sit-down dining experience. The wait was short, and the front-line employees were great. I ordered my salad that came with my lambchops without olives or peperoncinis. I ordered Saganaki (delicious flaming cheese), the lambchops, and their Termisu. The flaming cheese was yummy and a great small show. See pics attached. My table had food all over the floor and was right next to the fireplace. I felt a little close. My meal that was delivered was the things I ordered plus a huge Greek salad. I asked why the salad, and he said idk it was on the check, but your chops come with one he immediately adjusted the check, which I appreciated. The salad with the chops had olives and peperonchinis, so that request was missed. I have had some of the most amazing Lambchops on a cruise once, and these were just ok. One of them did not even have the bone part you hold. The rice had like an old or sour aftertaste, and the Termisu was really just ok. The lady fingers were not soaked enough, and everything except the cheese was just lacking general flavor sadly. The bathrooms were clean, and the staff were great. While I was sitting there, another customer was carrying her fries and said they came out cold if they could be refried. I'm not surprised my rice was kinda cold, too, but I didn't eat any of it because of the weird aftertaste. I may or may not return the Gyros may be better, but to spend 50.00, I definitely expect more from a restaurant. Final tip I saw if you sit at the bar, your water is refilled, and you get a glass, not a plastic throw-away cup. Read moreI feel bad because all restaurants need our patronage during this time. So our family orders take out about 2 times a week. We hadn't had Koble in over a year so I thought I should get take out but regretfully I believe this may be the last time we visit.
I parked walked up to the door and a family of 4 walks out without masks. Okay, fine, they don't care about science! I walk inside, more customers standing around or walking around without masks on. Not sitting or eating. The staff behind the counter had them on but every customer coming towards me leaving the restaurant did not. Restaurants that do not enforce health and safety guidelines, I'm not interested in visiting. They clearly have a relaxed policy, so I made a mental note this is not a safe space for us.
I got out of there quick and was excited to get home to eat. A night off of cooking is my favorite! The food turned out to be pretty disappointing. I recalled the food being delicious, so I had standard expectations. My kids grilled cheese was hard as a rock, difficult to eat, I believe it may have been sitting for longer than 20 minutes and then add in my 8 minute car ride and it's not gonna be any fresher. It wasn't burnt though so that was good. My chicken shish kabob was overseasoned and charred on the ends. My husband's gyro tasted off.We think too much yogurt in the dressing? Just all around, not a pleasant dinner. I did order desserts to share and the chocolate cake was fought over, the carrot cake had coconut which tends to turn me off.
Again, I want to support local but I struggle if health and safety guidelines are not implemented, it makes me think twice. The food may have had me crawling back but this...
Read moreI had been wanting to try Koble Grill in Powell since I passed by it a year or so ago. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I expected. The classic pasticio was good for never having it before, but not as good for leftovers. The gyro had good flavor. I liked the garlicky sauce, but the pita was dry. We asked for kalamata olives for the Greek salad since there were only ripe, black olives on it. The server said "sure" and brought more black olives. Either he couldn't admit they didn't have kalamata olives or he didn't know what they are. But the black olives tasted like they had been sitting in kalamata brine. Strangest thing. Getting my own refills was ok since we sat near the dispenser, but if we had sat on the other side it would have been annoying. What really surprised me, though, was the decor and ambiance. There was nothing that made me think I was in a Greek Italian restaurant. Pictures of wild horses, the Statue of Liberty, war planes? Now the live edge wood shelves and counters looked really nice. If they served different food, it might make sense. Edit: I definitely need to add that the staff were all pleasant and helpful. The food came out hot (cold foe the salad!) in a reasonable amount of time. The...
