The other day, my husband (who went to LHS long ago) dropped me off at the Diamond to windowshop while he paid his respects at a wake. It was late in the evening and the shops were closing. It was freezing outside so I walked to Abigail's Coffeehouse, the one shop where the lights were still on. I went inside and asked if they were open, explaining my situation. The owner said they were closing, but that I was welcome to come inside to warm up. He offered me a cup of coffee for free. I was moved by this simple yet generous act of hospitality. While I warmed myself at a table and he mopped the floors and his workers cleaned up the coffee counter, we talked about the challenges of maintaining a busy café, and other things like college-aged kids. Read moreAbigail's has been known as a coffeeshop with very mediocre coffee and espresso. We (long time locals) were hoping that with new owners, that would improve. Stopped in a few minutes ago. Ordered 2 lattes with an extra shot. The steamed milk had no foam and the milk was "burned" hot. Only one shot in the drink. We sat yhem on the table and left. PLEASE go to coffee school, and teach your employees how to make a delicious espresso drink. Read moreThis coffeehouse is a gem!! Situated in The Diamond of Ligonier, this seems to be where to find the locals gathering for their morning coffee and pastry. Everyone was so friendly, and laughed and joked with me as if I were a regular. I had a Dirty Chai, which was made perfectly, and a raspberry scone (made in-house) that was honestly one of the best scones I've ever had!
