Checkers — Restaurant in Linden

Hands down worst service in fast food I’ve ever encountered. Placed order at drive thru & ordered fries & mozzarella sticks. When I arrived to the window the older gentleman was very polite, handed me my change when I then requested BBQ sauce instead of marinara. This is when things escalated involving two additional employees , woman wearing purple shirt shouted very loud “ew who eats mozzarella sticks with bbq sauce” just to give you context she was standing on the other side of the kitchen and I was on the opposite side in the drive thru line & I was able to hear her. I then responded “ don’t knock it until you try it “ she then got extremely defensive for some reason & advised she has an opinion & is entitled to it. During this exchange the person cooking the food wearing all black is dead silent. I advised Everyone is entitled to their opinion however you don’t need to be rude about it to the point that I can hear it, all I was literally trying to do was order my food, pay & eat. When my bag was handed to me, the gentleman in all black approached the window & I advised that exchange was rude & uncalled for. He also then becomes extremely defensive & tells me to gtfo the drive thru and get out of here & slammed the window, at this point it’s hitting me that two grown adults are full on arguing with me because I chose to defend myself in a situation someone was arrogant & made fun of me, instead of simply doing her job all in regards to bbq sauce. I demanded a refund at this point which the gentleman in black refused multiple times until the woman in purple who originally initiated an issue advised to give back the food for the refund which I had no issue doing. While giving me the refund they were still saying things , however the window was shut. Women in purple insinuated she would fight me if she wasn’t working ( again this is bc I called her out on being rude about the bbq sauce comment ). This whole time the gentleman who originally took my order looked so over it amongst the both of them because it should’ve never been that serious. At the end of the day I’m a paying customer , I’m not entitled or expected 5 star service, however to be treated like a human was the bare minimum in this situation. I just don’t understand why 2 people got so upset for being called out on a situation they created instead of deescalating & apologizing. It was the most unprofessional experience I’ve had at a drive thru, felt like I was at a corner store. Also if you work in a food industry, why are you openly making fun of the customers order in front of them ? You really expect someone not to say something ? I filed a complaint with corporate Reference #5877655. I really hope to speak to the general manager of this location one...

Hands down, THE BEST fast food fries ever. They're called "seasoned" fries, but don't let that scare you off. They aren't spicy at all.

Burgers are awesome, the chili dog is to die for. Ages ago, they used to have apple nuggets (imagine little, bite-sized fried apple pies), but they've since been replaced by cinnamon apple pie, which is good, but certainly not as awesome as the apple nuggets were.

There's always parking here, but you're never really going to use it since the only seating is outdoors (there is no indoor dining room) and the tables and chairs aren't all that comfortable.

Since their primary focus is drive thru, they have twin drive-thrus, which means there's almost never a wait. Service is fast and professional.

The one thing I dislike is that if you pay by credit card, there seems to be only one machine in the store and it's not by the drive thrus, so the person has to disappear for a while with your credit card. I've never had a problem with that, but my own paranoia about credit card safety kicks in whenever my credit card is out of sight.

I'm shocked that this chain is not bigger in this area. Even more shocked that the only other Checkers within a reasonable driving distance (Union, NJ) closed down about 2 years ago, making this Linden location the only place within about 30 minutes to experience what I consider to be the...

Very bad experience, took my daughter to get food at 9.50pm and saw online that there was a coupon for free fries. I showed it to the cashier who called a female to help apply the coupon... im gessing her name is Victoria and she did not want to add the coupon and got a very nasty attitude and complained that they were getting ready to close when supposedly they close at 11pm and that I was holding up the line... her words "come on man, couldnt you look at the thos before you ordered, we are getting ready to close man... tssss" Very bad experience and killed what was supposed to be a good time for food just because of their attitude. One of the cooks also said "come on papa" because of me supposedly holdong them up. Very bad customer service... should not be in customer related activities at all. Workers were also not wearing facemasks at all and also using the n word amongst them in front of customers.
