Today we had the opportunity to visit Alebrijes for the first time. We were there for lunch. A neighbor had recommended this restraunt. First, I need to start by saying that they don't serve Sonoran cuisine. Secondly, guests need to be open minded to experiencing new flavors and presentations. This restraunt offers great Oaxaca Cuisine. I come from a line of great Mexican cooks and experiences, which makes me a very demanding guest. I have also traveled extensively throughout Mexico and have experienced food from many states and they all have their very unique differences. We ordered four items: Queso Fundido con Chorizo, Pozole, Enchiladas de Pollo en Mole, and Chiles Relleno. Everything was absolutely delicious and hot. We shared everything we ordered and brought our leftovers home. We had no room for dessert. It was a win, win for us, when everything we ordered had very delicious, distinctive and inviting tastes. The meal presentation was exquisite, very pretty and appealing to the eyes and the stomach. The restraunt was spotless. Waiters were constantly cleaning tables or cleaning something while they waited for orders or down time when they didn't have guests that they were tending to. Dishes were removed immediately from tables once guests were done. The decor and ambience are incredible. It was a very relaxing and inviting ambience. The music was typical of that region. It brought back many memories of my travels in Mexico. The service was great; our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. The service was a little slow, but worth the wait. Once they started waiting on your table, everything was timed appropriately. I believe that they still need to work out some kinks. Maybe through our reviews they will address this concern. For being a restraunt that hasn't been open that long, I believe that they are truly doing their best to make their guests' experiences positive and lasting. We truly experienced a very rewarding and satisfying culinary experience. We will return to try more of the exquisite items on the menu, making room for desserts and beverages. Allow yourselves this culinary experience, you want be...
Read moreWe had high hopes for this place. On reviews and pictures, it looks really good. However, this is a place that’s all looks and no substance. It is a small restaurant. They offer no sitting area while you wait for table inside. They have 2 sitting benches outside. Once seated, we came across dirty utensils (forks and knives with food stuck to them) we did bring that up to the waitress and got it replaced. The service is pretty slow. It took us about an 45-50 minutes to be served. The restaurant is small and so there are not a lot of customers, and the waitresses will sit at the bar, or eat in the corner where there is this little bar area, during service. Food: NOT GOOD. I had the chilaquiles with red sauce. The sauce is straight up Mole Dona Maria ( it is not home made) we also had the 3 trio tacos with side of rice and beans. You get small dipping bowl of mushy, plain tomato sauce Spanish rice. Small dipping bowl of Goya black beans with just a little bit of cheso fresco on top. The tacos were Cochinita Pibil (which smelled old/bad as if was on the verge of being rotten and it was not hot) the carne asada was so basic. Shrimp taco-unseasoned shrimp. All the tacos had same toppings of purple onion and cilantro. If you know about tacos you would know that pibil would need habanero salsa and the carne asada would need different salsa (pico de gallo) they are different meats. They do offer this small red salsa which taste like puree tomatoes. Look like a salsa you would pour over flautas? Again, if you like unseasoned food.
Overall- we will not be returning to this place. I’m all about supporting small family businesses, but when the service is slow and food taste like canned...

⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointing Experience at Alebrijes Cafe Grill
My friend and I arrived at Alebrijes Cafe Grill right at opening, hoping for a smooth start to our meal. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting 45 minutes just to be seated — despite being among the first to arrive. The staff informed us they wouldn’t seat anyone until the kitchen and servers were fully ready, stating that guests might “start demanding water” or placing orders too early.
It was uncomfortable waiting by the entrance, especially as I overheard two elderly women behind us mention that their legs were hurting from standing so long. One of them eventually chose to wait in her car. I even offered to let them take our spot, which they appreciated — but honestly, no one should be put in that position.
During our wait, we saw several other parties leave in frustration. It wasn’t a good first impression. Even a small gesture like offering seating until the staff was ready would’ve shown more care for the guests.
As for the food: it was just okay. I ordered the chilaquiles, and the salsa verde was overly bitter, as if the tomatillos had been overcooked. It lacked the fresh, tangy balance I expected.
Overall, the experience at Alebrijes Cafe Grill was disappointing. Poor service from the start and underwhelming food made for a visit I wouldn’t recommend. I hope the management rethinks how they handle guests at opening and makes improvements both in hospitality and in...
