Sigh. The interior designer of this vegetarian restaurant created a magical and cozy atmosphere unique to Little Rock. I am a vegetarian who was so excited to explore the menu at this new vegetarian restaurant opening in walking distance from my home. Our server, Audrey was delightful. We started with a beet root and a regular margarita. Both were good but unmemorable. We were famished on arrival and ordered the Eggs Benedict and Kelp Cacio e Pepe. The Eggs Benedict flavors were good but we both struggled to cut through the bacon with our fork and knife. The Kelp Cacio e Pepe is a cold dish that does not have pepper and a very slight cheese flavor. The name Cacio e Pepe translates to cheese and pepper. It was just ok. Eager to find a dish that I loved, I ordered the Blue Jean Biscuit and Mushroom Gravy. This dish was better but not great. My favorite things during this visit were the biscuits (though I would order them as an appetizer with jam), banana ketchup (popular in the Philippines), hot sauce, plating and atmosphere. I really liked Audrey, our server. Her only miss was that she never asked how we liked the food. One of the owners came by as we were wrapping things up and asked how we liked everything. I gave a mixed review and was direct about the bacon to which she replied that maybe they will have to get knives that are more serrated. I know the same owners own @ The Corner Diner which is a beloved downtown spot. Our bill ($119.21 tip included) was higher than the previous day at The Oyster Bar where we had more food and alcohol. Despite the lows of our experience, I loved the atmosphere, server and hope that they will consider making some changes to the menu - and lower the cost. With so few vegetarian spots in Little Rock I am likely to eventually return to try different options. I am rooting for you,...
Read moreThis was not my first time here but, The owner showed her true colors over a simple mistake. I called my order in of Hot Honey Mushrooms & Waffle, apparently with the owner, but once i got home I noticed my order was missing my waffle. I called back to explain i was missing my waffle order, she said I ordered the appetizer( Honey Bomb Mushrooms). She then began interrupting me and yelling as I was trying to explain I just want my waffle. She said I can get a refund, I explained I just want my waffle( I'm hungry and the vegan restaurants are limited here). She told me to come back, I asked am I getting my waffle and she refused to answer. I went back she became very aggressive, getting very close to me. I backed up and asked her to back up but she kept getting closer. She handed me my money, I asked can I get my waffle she told me no and asked me to leave. I never raised my voice, I was laughing with cousin who told her I'm not from here & I just wanted my food. She began to insult me, called me a child, and talked to me like I was nothing. She did not offer an apology and made me the villian. Unfortunately, I'm a dark skinned black woman, so I guess she assumed I was going to be hostile. I forgot racism still exist especially in Little Rock. Lesson Learned. This was like my 3rd time at this place and owner showed her true racist color. Other than the one black worker. I was the only other black person in there( red flag). Like I'm really flabbergasted, all I wanted was my food and got a discrimination as an entrée. Ande she said she will refuse our service if we try to come back another day. All because she couldn't say she made a simple mistake Side note: My cousin the Bread taste like yeast and it's...
Read moreSo my wife talked me in to eating here. I was apprehensive as Flora Jean describes their restaurant as “A wellness-centered, plant-focused & nutrient-dense restaurant…focusing on food as medicine through the unique power of plants.” Not my typical go to. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The food was actually great (except for the bean sprout bacon, which may be an acquired taste thing). My wife had the farmers breakfast, which included eggs, sunflower cheese grits, fresh fruit, rosemary roasted potatoes, and a blue Jean biscuit with floral butter and jam (and the bean sprout bacon). It was all amazing…well almost all amazing…see bacon comment above :) I had the Wildberry Pancakes, which was rice flower pancakes, wildberry compote with rose and schisandra, coconut whipped cream and toasted coconut. And even thought I have no idea what schisandra is, it must have blended well with everything else and it was amazing! We may not ever return as we were traveling through on our way to Tennessee. However, this should absolutely be in your list of...
