Dust Bowl Lanes and Lounge — Local services in Little Rock

If I could give zero stars I would. Like where do I start. My friends and I have been here before and have never had issues. Well we decided to go on Saturday 08/12/2023 to CELEBRATE my best friends birthday. The moment we walked in the vibe was off. We were interested in booking the private room since we had a lot of people but we were told it was booked and that someone was in there until 11 (no one was in there). We went to the counter to get my other friend some shoes which we stood there for a lil min while the manager was at the bar scrolling on an ipad. I literally had to walk to the bar to ask her to come get us some shoes. She seem aggravated. That was second. Third was my friend ordering us sprites and they asked him "Are you trying to sneak liquor in here" because we're asking for sprite? After that the manager was watching us like a hawk making us feel super uncomfortable. Fourth My friend's boyfriend asked the manager who was serving if he could get a beer and she told him "You have to go the bar" Not long after that we see her serving drinks to the table next to us. Livid! Fifth, we had about 9 people so the other staff members stated that we can do two lanes which we started out on one lane but two of the staff members told us we can do both. The manager came over after that and was like I only had yall down for one and we explained that the 2 workers said we could do both. I was like okay no problem we can go back to the one lane and she was like "well I already changed it now", It was the attitude for me. We have both lanes At this point we're half way through the game and I'm still uneasy because the vibe is just off. My friend takes a bottle of water with her every where literally every where. She goes to take a drink and the manager comes up and says "let me smell that". She told her it's just water and she literally sat there with her hand out waiting for her to give it to her. I said she's not letting you smell a thing. So my friend went ahead and let her smell the bottle. And what did she smell? Nothing because it was WATER. She was expecting to smell alcohol. If anything she could have just told her they don't allow outside water. From the jump this place gave us a weird vibe but for us to experience this was definitely harassment! Very unprofessional and the manager doesn't deserve that job. We were most definitely being treated different due to us being black and they automatically assume we were sneaking liquor in when that wasn't the case. Me and 7 other adults went here Saturday 08/12/2023 for a birthday outing. One friend went to the bar to order 8 waters & 8 sprites for the whole group (because he didn’t know what everyone wanted to drink since the whole party wasn’t present yet). He was approached by someone claiming to be the manager, she proceeded to ask my friend why we wanted those drinks and if we were sneaking alcohol in. If she would’ve paid close enough attention she would’ve noticed no one had purses or pockets big enough to sneak in anything. He tells her no and continues to buy what he asked for. She then chooses to linger around our bowling lanes to basically “watch us” after awhile it got a little uncomfortable because she had another guy employee watching us as well. One of my friends did have an outside water bottle, as she went to take a sip the “manager” came over to ask what was in the bottle, my friend told her water, and the “manager” asked to smell it. That question really made our whole group uncomfortable because at that point this is harassment. My friend allowed her to smell the bottle, but the “manager” simply just should’ve said there are no outside drinks allowed and she would’ve thrown the bottle away, but instead she smelled the water and found NOTHING! So we were ready to leave by that point. I myself asked the “manager” for the contact information of the person above her and she unprofessionally told me to “Google it” once again not only were we paying customers just looking for a good time we were still in an uncomfortable and awkward situation. She stated that it was weird for us to be in a “21 and older” establishment and not drinking, which 3 of our guest were trying to order drinks and she told them they had to go to the bar to order and they did, but that wasn’t good enough for her. This was my first and LAST time attending this establishment because me and my friends were uncomfortable, harassed, and discriminated against. On Aug 12th, Saturday night, me and a group of friends were profiled and harassed by the staff at Dust Bowl because we were mistakenly accused and assumed that we were sneaking in liquor into the establishment. We had reserved a lane to celebrate a birthday but once we got settled at our lane and ordered waters and Sprites for everyone, we were questioned about the why we was ordering just water and sprites? As we continued to proceed with the night, serval staff members were patrolling and hovering over our area, making it uncomfortable during the time we was there. So then the birthday girl had pulled out a water bottle that she previous had prior to walking in to finish up, and one of the staff member had came over to ask to sniff her bottle. At that moment, we were all shocked and surprised that this was actually happening in our face. We were already noticing the constant pressure and attention we were receiving from the staff and now that one of them actually approach one of us and ask to sniff the bottle was totally out of hand and unprofessional. As she proceeded to sniff the bottle, which was indeed "water", we sat back in disgust and started packing up our belongings and asked for a manager to explained the harassment we was receiving. The excuse was they had been dealing with incidents of previous groups sneaking liquor into the building and assumed we were too. There's a way to go about things and that way was totally unacceptable, it displayed the lack of training, lack of customer service and lack of interpersonal skills.
