Okay so Im a 16 year old girl who previously worked at Maggie moos over a month ago and this was my very first job ever. That experience alone was enough to stop me from wanting to make any more money or get another job at places like Maggie moos for the rest of my life. When I first started I really liked the job and thought that it would be a great starting job for me since it would be easy managing a simple task such as ice cream. I WAS WRONG. Though the actual owner was not as bad, i never got a day of training and they threw me into work expecting me to get everything right the first time which was very stressful. I tried very hard but failed miserably in comparison to my coworkers because I wasn't taught all that well and the owners would complain when I did something to the best of my abilities. Not long after I sort of got used to the work flow and made great and kind friends at work, our actual owner left and his wife took over even though she would come in and supervise us every once in a while. She was awful. I mean always yelling and nagging and treating us like we were scum as employees. Lots of the time she wouldn't have any humanely respect for the kids that worked there and often yelled and physically shoved me around to do things and insulting the employees on our work ethic. I always dreaded going into work because it was always something about how I worked which was horrible. I often felt discriminated against as a black female because she would leave everyone else alone in the store and gave me VERY little hours but always said she could never trust me despite me having a great resume, great references, and never stealing or doing things when it came to Maggie moos. She always said things coming down to my gender like "if you're a woman you should know how to sweep and wash dishes well, you aren't Doing them well enough!" After a month and a half at most I got so tired of the treatment because I never have been treated like a literal slave by anybody. On top of that, she was very unclean and unprofessional. She yelled at one of my coworkers who was also a black female because she got one scoop ice cream when she always told everybody that they could have a free scoop a day. She insulted her by telling her that she eat too much ice cream and yelled at her while people where in the store then passive aggressively took her off the schedule for a week. She always talks bad about the way we work to other employees and always tells us we aren't good enough. If that isn't bad enough there are bugs and mold EVERYWHERE. Mold and bugs are even In the toppings and in the actual ice cream because the owner's wife isn't clean about where she stores the toppings or what goes in the ice cream. At night the store is crawling with bugs and there is mold everywhere because she uses "1 splash of bleach and 1 gallon of warm water to clean" which makes it an environment for mold to fester. One time she even had mold fall into the ice cream because she didn't clean the display table in months and left it for us to have to scrape it off the actual ice cream because she didn't find reason to actually replace them all. She and her husband also do a lot of illegal things to make more money and get more taxes off of the place instead of being truthful owners. On top of that the male workers who are 16 always have to work long hours that are more than part time hours each week which ultimately result to illegal child labor. Ultimately I am glad I left that place because it was horrible working conditions, unsanitary, and insulting and racist treatment. NO ONE should have to work there or even go to eat there. I really hope the other co-owner to the place can get it in better shape and actually team up with another owner instead of these...
Read moreThis place was great ages ago. But the past couple of times we visited, the apparent owner or manager was SO blatantly disrespectful, dismissive & downright rude, we put a kabosh on it. In addition to scoffing at my family when we asked about the chocolate-fudge-type flavor we used to order not being in the case (maybe it had not been stocked in a while? We still don’t know why our question warranted that response), his reply to my daughter was the straw breaking the camel’s back and we have not been back in over a year. In a very respectful and courteous tone (because she was raised by me and knows better. Plus, she works with public & gets what he obviously doesn’t: that’s your bread and butter??), asked if she could see the nutrition facts guide. She’s an athlete, was trying to weigh her options. He rolled his eyes, sneered at her and told her he did not have to supply those. Kinda feel that’s not accurate? It just popped back into my mind as we walked past it and noticed how nasty the windows were, the outside seating, how run down the overall appearance of it all was - there was a faded Easter poster hanging at the door…. Go buy a couple cans of spray paint for those metal seating - it would make such a difference?! But also glancing in as strolling past & see him in an obvious rant, irately waving hands at a frightened looking employee. We frequent the Promenade shopping center all. The. Time. It’s very sad that this is no longer a viable option for a sweet treat. We will happily take our business to...
Read moreOur experience at Maggie Moo's on July 4th was terrible to say the least. The 2 workers that was working during the time they were very rude , they did not greet us upon entering the store , nor did they immediately get up off there stools to serve us. After staring at us and still not saying hello or May i help you? I broke the silence and ordered some ice cream with a waffle cone bowl and my sister did the same expect she ordered her ice cream with a waffle cone. We left the store and began eating our ice cream which was quite tasty and as we began to finish and nibble on our waffle bowls/ cones we noticed a bland , rubbery , stale taste from the cone. We immediately went back into the store to report this to them, and the young female worker says "Yeah , the cones have been in the container since THURSDAY so I'm sure they are stale!!! We immediately began to feel sick & all do noticed that the container that holds the cones had been left open the entire time we originally left the store... She went on to say that its their bosses fault because he is extremely "cheap" and wont let them throw anything away. They never apologized for KNOWINGLY selling us old cones or tried to repair the situation with a refund or anything. This frightens us because if the cones are old, I am sure that this is NOT the practice of Maggie Moo's but if something is not done about these practices, we will not hesitate to report this to a local food inspector or our local...
