This was the worst Newk’s experience we’ve had and, unfortunately, we won’t be back to this location. The young lady who took our order was very friendly, but that was the only positive thing about our experience. We arrived around 7pm, and the restaurant only had 1 other table that was occupied, so they weren’t at all busy. When we went to the drink station to get water, there was a huge puddle of liquid in front of both stations and moving over to the nearest table. At one point, someone brought a “wet floor” sign, but at no point during our visit did anyone even attempt to clean up the small pond. When our food came out after quite a wait, the po’boy we ordered had no onions (we asked for extra), so we asked the person who brought our food if she would mind bringing out some onions; she said no problem and that she’d actually just have someone add them to the sandwich. She walks away with the sandwich and we then realize the bowl of baked potato soup we ordered is cold. Fast forward 20 minutes - multiple people are walking around cleaning and doing what looks like preparing to close (7:40pm at this point), but we still haven’t gotten the sandwich back, so we give in and eat the soup (we haven’t seen anyone since) and glance over to see the sandwich sitting on the counter with multiple people walking around cleaning. Finally, we see someone who was cleaning a station walk over to the sandwich (same gloves, no change from cleaning) and put onion on it before it’s brought out to us. At that point, the rest of the table had finished their food. Additional note: The last time we were there for lunch, a man came up to us saying he was the manager, noticed we had paid for our waters, and that he had refunded the cost of both of them. We explained we wanted the large cups and he said we still shouldn’t be charged. This time, we were told we’re supposed to be charged for the cups. We don’t actually care either way, but some consistency is expected - you’re either supposed to pay for them or you aren’t, but it shouldn’t be different every...
Read moreI had a great time at Newk's for my first visit. The counter staff greeted me kindly and took my order quickly. After a short wait, the server brought the food to the table. Everything looked and smelled delicious.
The turkey and swiss was fresh and the lettuce was crisp. I definitely recommend this sandwich. I paired this with the lobster and crab bisque. This is a good soup. It wasn't piping hot, but had a nice steam coming from the bowl. Rich and creamy, and you can actually taste the shellfish. After halfway through the bowl, it was cool enough to dip my sandwich in it. While this wasn't necessarily a bad idea, it might work better with a different soup, or different sandwich.
My friend looked to enjoy her pizza, and after she was finished, she offered a slice for me to try. I was too full but that didn't stop me from grabbing an easily accessible self serve to go box to take away for later. Still good by the time I was able to reheat later for dinner! Crust is light and slightly chewy, and toppings are perfect with allowance for a bready finish. I don't know it the cheese is a blend or not, but it complimented the sauce well. Sauce isn't too sweet, and delivers a smooth, savory, and slightly tangy bite.
Located in the Midtown Plaza area, parking is plenty, and it's easily accessible from University Ave. A nice area and eatery to refresh before or after a mall or zoo visit, as well as a good place for food if visiting St. Vincent's. You'll get a great meal for...
Read moreToday was the worst time I have ever had at this Newk's. I always order the same thing. A new young man was there to take my order. He didn't know how to ring up the special request when he asked for help his manager looked at me with disgust and threw her hands up in the air and slammed her keys on the counter. Walked over to the register with a stank attitude. I said sorry for the inconvenience to her and she ignored me never gave me eye contact nothing. After I ordered I went outside after about 15 minutes or so no pizza and I was the only one in the restaurant. I went inside to see if it was ready and the young man said oh we didn't know you were outside. I said oh is it in the trash he said no it's over there hold on. I went to were it would be and the manager with a nasty attitude says I will call your name when it's ready. They never took my name. At this point I was pissed. Why was she so nasty? I went back outside and after another 5 or 6 minutes they bring my pizza and it's cold. I just got up asked for a Togo box and left. I hope they let that manager go she is horrible for their business. Made my experience horrible and I eat there at least 3 or 4 times a month. Won't be...
