I will state up front that we have only been here one time and this review is based upon this singular experience. If we ever go back I may (or may not) have basis to change this review.
5/11/25 Mother's Day lunch. My grandparents in law took us out to eat here and I was very much looking forward to it. I love trying new places and especially new places with "steakhouse" in the name.
I ordered the $63 16oz ribeye. My wife and son both order the herb chicken. Not sure what the grandparents ordered. We ordered our food within 10-15 minutes of being seated. As our table conversation carried on it slowly became obvious that service was taking abnormally long (maybe not for this place). An hour and half after ordering placing our orders, my grand father in law finally asked our waitress how much longer we should expect our food to be. She stated it was being dished up as we speak but I think that was a stretch because it was still almost 30 minutes later before we got our food.
The food was not good at all. Definitely nowhere near the prices they are charging for it. My ribeye ($63 without a side) was unflavorful and overcooked per how I ordered it. I expect a fatty steak when I order ribeye and it was as lean as sirloin except for some of the fat on the sides. Ordered a baked potato for my side and it was basic. Certainly not worth $14. My wife and son's chicken dish looked good but neither of them enjoyed it ($37 per dish). The chicken was dry as well.
When asked how everything was, I was politely honest about the steak and they were quick to assure they would remove it from the ticket so that was nice. They acknowledged that the wait time was not acceptable and said they would comp us all dessert so we took advantage of that. None of the dessert was very good either though.
Our waitress was great and professional; obviously busy too, but she did a good job. When things were apparent that our table was unpleased with how things were going she was quick to get a manager involved and they took good care of us otherwise.
My grandparents in law are very generous and we were still very grateful to them attempting to treat us to a nice place. However, I am not too sure I would be willing to spend my own hard earned money here for overpriced,...
Read moreI definitely had an unforgettable experience but in the worst way. I visited on Sunday at the trusted referral of my partner who joined my mother and I for Sunday dinner. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 3pm with the exception of two couples, both of which who left while we were seated. The start of the experience was great and our server Jennifer was great also. The problem came when the Sure Thing was ordered with a medium well steak and the first one came out charred after waiting over 30 minutes in an empty facility. After it was sent back with a second request for a medium well steak, it took closer to 45 minutes to get done which makes me think the kitchen did this on purpose. This is after assistant manager Tatiana (Sp?) had come to the table to ask questions in effort to get a more accurate order. We had to go to the kitchen in order to get the second steak at all and it finally came out well done. This time manager Stefanie Quick came out to apologize verbally but did not to offer to take any accountability for the kitchen not knowing how to make a medium well steak in a premium steakhouse. I had already paid for the meal because at this point we had been been waiting for so long but we shouldn't have took that steak home. The manager failed to offer a different meal or provide any level of service to address the wait time or the incorrectness of the order. When I began to ask questions, she attempted to dismiss my conversation because it was not my food even though I paid for the entire table (not that she cared) and it was my money wasted. She did not rectify the situation by any means though. We took that second steak home and ended up trashing it. The salmon I ordered had zero seasoning of any kind. The charbroiled oysters were almost raw with hardened melted cheese on top (no char and no broil). They were so bad, we sent them back. The sides were good and so was my mother's crab stuffed shrimp. That was it. $217 worth of food with only one satisfying meal at the table. If the management could have at least bothered to create a better experience or provided any type of incentive to encourage me to try them again, I would have felt better. But as empty as the restaurant was, this is probably the culture of how they value/treat...
Read moreSunday Supper at Sullivans. We had reservations and had to wait a few minutes for them to seat us. No big deal. We were sat in "Tiara's" section (my apologies if the spelling is off). She greeted us warmly, got our drink and app order, and set off to bring a bottle of wine. Service was a tiny bit slow, but the restaurant was pretty busy, and we had time to enjoy our cocktails and appetizers. The app was the Beef Wellington Bites. Very savory meat in a puff pastry and a great start to the meal. We skipped salads and ordered the mains. The Mrs is a crab cake nut, so she ordered those and was quite impressed. I tried a bite, and they were packed with crab meat and a few spices and a great balance of flavor. The shredded Brussels sprouts are legit. Great flavor and loaded with real bacon bits. The only hitch in the evening came when the runner dropped my wife's order and nothing came out for me. We figured she would be back shortly, but she never returned. Almost 10 minutes had passed, and I encouraged the Mrs to eat during that time, but she felt bad not waiting for me. Finally a different waitress passed by, and we asked her if she could check with the kitchen. Lo and behold, the order never printed in the kitchen because of a software error. My steak arrived late, but with the profuse apologies of each our primary waitress, the passerby, and the manager who comped the entree off the ticket. Businesses make mistakes. It happens to anyone who owns a business, but how they handle the mistake is where they either succeed or fail. I was very pleased with the response, and the steak...I ordered a strip, rare with the accompaniment of blue cheese and pork belly, and I may never eat another strip the same way again. The pork belly was the perfect compliment to the lean cut of beef. The strip itself was cooked perfectly, succulent, and juicy. I've never had a steak that good at "the place down the street" who bills itself as a premiere steakhouse. Normally, with a mistake I would hesitate to rate with five stars, but the response of the staff and management was perfect. Back to Tiara. She was a joy, and we learned a lot about her. She was a great host and representative of Sullivan's, and we enjoyed the...
