Chicken Salad Chick — Restaurant in Littleton

This place has won my southern heart.

Stopped in for a quick bite after an agonizing visit to the Apple Store. I don’t make it down to aspen grove often but the only cuisine I’ve had there has been via the CFA drive thru. Hungry and defeated by technology, I ordered a small thing of their classic chicken salad and the pimento cheese online. Upon arrival, I joined the line by mistake and was forced to look at the variety of other chicken salads, sides and huge slices of white chocolate cake before me.

I purchased an additional thing of their chicken salad with onions (Dixie Chick), a grape salad and of course cake.

The chicken salads were great. Wish there was more celery but overall it is to die for. The grape salad, to die for. A sweet treat indeed. The cake was fabulous after I put it in the fridge for a few hours but I’m sure it would have been great at room temperature as well. Pimento cheese is good, a little too homogenous for my liking and I think they would really take it to the next level if they used cheese that was freshly grated with bigger, feather like shreds. Taste was there, texture was not. I also ordered 2 slices of their white bread and I’m so glad I did as the crackers weren’t gonna cut it. The bread is top notch— soft and hearty, country style white loaf cut thick.

Points awarded for decent sweet tea. Point lost for Minute Maid lemonade. Fresh squeezed lemonade and freshly grated pimento cheese would have the southern gods singing their praises.

I interacted with the franchisee a few times while my order came out— she was so sweet and pleasant. The place was PACKED and I mean line out the door packed but they never missed a beat. I can appreciate that this business is very much a labor of love and a family affair, both of which were evident on my visit today....

Aspen Grove location. Crowded. Understaffed. Long wait for our order. Both sandwiches were bland and tasteless. Waste of time and money. Edit The owner of the Littleton Chicken Salad Chick responded to my review, saying she would offer me a free sandwich so I might find something else I would find tasty, as if her lack of ability to make tasty food is my fault. I would love to give her a good review, but her idea of chicken salad is to run it through a food processor until it becomes mush, like baby food. That is not chicken salad. Chicken salad has chunks of chicken in it and chunks of other ingredients to make it a hearty meal. When I asked for my bread to be toasted, they grilled it, so the already dressing-heavy sandwich got an added dose of grease. I had a taste of two different sandwiches and the additions to the chicken salad in both cases were so bland they added nothing to the already bland and unseasoned chicken salad. Chicken Salad Chick is one step up from fast food. I was eating on the patio and the patron next to me left a pile of to-go boxes on the table and the wind was blowing them all over us and no one came out to clean it up. I completely understand as a newly opened store, things happen. However, when we sit 30+ minutes and other orders are taken to tables filled with people who ordered after us, and we still have not received our food, there is obviously an issue that needs to be fixed. We were told that our ticket was not printed and there was an issue with their printer, however, everyone else, before and after us, received their orders.

We asked for a refund and for our order to be cancelled. The manager came over to speak with us and offered everything but a refund (many, many coupons, whatever was left in the cooler, cake, etc.). After the second time asking for a refund, he said okay. He came back with our receipt and said “I voided your order” and proceeded to hand us numerous coupons, but not the refund of cash that we originally paid with.

After the third time asking for our refund, the manager snatched our receipt off our table and came back with our cash - no coupons, discounts, etc. that were originally offered to us, we’re an option at this point.
