We have eaten at the Lucile's Creole Cafe in downtown Denver. We enjoyed eating at that location, and figured we would try the newer location down south, so we did.
The restaurant is located in it's own building, which is nice, so there's more room inside the restaurant at this location. It's roomy, with lots of tables and booths for the MANY people that go to eat the scrumptious food!
The interior is large and spacious, with purples, yellows, whites, and browns. There is a large bar towards the back center, which holds approximately 24 people. The bar seats looked comfortable, or as comfortable as bar seats go. The bar stools looked like they had comfortable and colorful cushions on top of them. The bar seemed like a nice place to meet someone, and enjoy a nice meal.
There are booths and tables as well. The floor is hardwood, and nicely kept up too. There are plenty of windows on two of the walls, which allow a nice amount of light inside. The one interior wall, which we sat by, has dozens of different size mirrors hung on the walls, which I really like. I like the creativity of using mirrors as both decorations, and the reflection of light back into the room.
I like the large, yet comfortable waiting area that is inside the restaurant. I didn't realize this was a waiting area, when we first entered the restaurant. At first, I thought it was a "private" seating area. It's not, it's a waiting area, with lots of chairs, and it's comfortable and cute. Kudos to Lucile's for having a nice waiting area, as many restaurants don't have them. Oh, you will use this waiting area, as this restaurant is hugely popular! Yes, you will most likely have to wait.
I love their food, and there is plenty of it too! Be prepared to take part of your meal home, especially if you order the beignets before your meal. Yummy! The large biscuits that they serve with many of the meals is very large, big enough for two people to share, which we did.
My breakfast of bacon and eggs, was very good. Everything was cooked to order, and it was served hot as well There are several varieties of coffee to try. We tried the chicory coffee, and both my husband and I enjoyed it.
It is loud inside the restaurant, as there are not any walls to break up the noise, so know that in advance. It is basically one large room, with a smaller section off to the side. There is a large private parking lot. Service is good, even though it was absolutely packed.
I'd like to go back, and try other things on the breakfast menu, as well as lunch. We'll also be taking other family members there as well. ...

It was alot of food, not cheap, but you don't come here looking for a dollar menu. That doesn't live here. What does live here is thoughtfully and authentically prepared Creole foods. They even managed to pull off a decent biscuit in this mile high city. I actually appreciate the menu pricing. We live and eat every week and weekend in this very neighborhood. I'm really tired of all of the restaurants where "kids eat free" . We didn't want kids, don't have kids and do not want to be seated with a table of 2,4 or more screaming children that the parents let run loose, as if the establishment owes them a day off from parenting. In fact as the waitress was attempting to seat us, she was headed toward a table that had 2 small children. One was in a high chair and one was on the floor. I quickly protested quietly, and re directed her into the opposite side of the restaurant where she found us a nice little table for two. š It wasn't but just a few minutes later that those children started screaming and hollering, which carried on through the entirety of their meal. At least we had the giant center bar between our two tables, that acted as a buffer. Thank you kitchen and service floor staff for an amazing dining experience.
August 2019 update: Today the food was a little off, and so is their soda syrup and Co2 mix for the diet cola. Too sweet and next to no bubbles. The over medium eggs were cooked on a flat top that was too hot. They were Brown and crunchy on the outside which is absolutely disgusting and they stink, and the inside is undercooked to where there's so much runny egg white I could even eat them. The hot sausage was also nearly burned on one side. The Pain Perdu was under done, there should be a nice crust on French toast. The fruit was a hot mess. VERY DISAPPOINTED...
Read moreLucile's Creole Cafe began with what appeared to be a courteous, professional, yet distanced restaurant manager seating us at our table on a near-full Thursday at 11:30am (near-full was a very good sign), and ended with being treated with the most incredible server experience by both the same manage as well as our server and our bellies ever-joyously reveling in the amazing seasoned and spiced expertly foods, perfected sauces and (count them!) 5 mouth-watering jams and preserves, a plate full of pillow-formed gotta have 'em signature beignets covered in drifts of powdered sugar melting before our eyes into the hot-out- of-the-fryer delights. Every single item served, including ketchup, hot sauces, preserves, bloody Mary mix, and all to die for aromas that create Lucile's authentically Creole menu are made right here in-house. The Shrimp and Grits lived up to its reputation with andoulle sausage & roaster red pepper sauce spooned generously over jalapeño cheddar grits, though there were two other flavor grits to choose from. There were at least 6 items on the breakfast menu alone I wanted to sample and found my brain mixing and matching items from individual dishes to make up my perfect dish, but deconstruction of perfection is simply immoral in this establishment. Having lived in Colorado my entire life, minus college, I am bewildered I did not know of Lucile's, especially with their numerous locations, including it's first opened downtown on Logan St. All Lucile's Creole Cafes are situated within historical bungalow houses and add to the experience. Thank you, Lucile, for sharing your 40-year perfected re ioes plated to perfection with us who's bellies are appreciating the glorious meal...
