Let me preface this by saying this has been my second time visiting this restaurant and second time ordering the same dish. The first time I came I had amazing service and good food to pair with it, however the second time I was astonished to find what I did find. I ordered the New York steak French dip for the second time, so this is a dish I'm familiar with. After I received the food, upon further inspection I was very surprised to see I was served a piece of pork. I've cooked many steaks in my lifetime and I cannot be convinced that the kitchen "overcooked" the steak as they claimed. Never have I ever seen an overcooked steak remain white like a pork chop does. Regardless even if it was a piece of beef they magically turned white, it was heavily salted like a pork chop would be if it were to be served. The fatty edge was consistent with a pork chop as well and the meat was firm as a pork chop is when fully cooked. I confered with a lovely table of ladies sat next to me and they also believed it to be a pork chop. After speaking with my waitress she was able to remove the item from my bill so that was resolved but I just can't sit here quietly without informing the public of a blatant attempt to serve a piece of pork that is fractions of the cost of a piece of beef. The only reason why I decided to award this establishment an additional star was due to the front staff's service. The two people running the front were very polite, professional, and on top of their jobs as one should be. As for the kitchen however, this is unacceptable for any restaurant regardless of the circumstances. I wish I could say I would try dining here again but after this complete violation of trust I cannot bring myself to do so. Overall I would recommend to the owner; keep your front staff, crack down on your kitchen standards or increase your cost per dish if necessary to assure people are served what they...
Read moreSo excited to try this place. We came here when it was Clucked and then Fat chance and unfortunately, neither one of those places stuck so we're hopeful for this place. They have a very good assortment of food menu items. Our server was nice and helpful but not very talkative. We didn't mind because he was efficient so it was fine. I tried the prickly pear, margarita, and we had the Cobb salad the shrimp salad, the green chili burger and the BLT. All were tasty but each had their own little issues with, and I'm just gonna attribute that to it being still a relatively new place. The margarita was really good no issues. The Cobb salad was really good. I don't have any issues with it, both salads were pretty good Actually. The Sedona sandwich was good Except the chicken was suuuuper dry. The chicken seemed to be cut into two pieces so there were times you'd get a bite with no chicken because the piece slipped from the sandwich. The BLT was the main one that was a problem. The lettuce was wilted, the tomato had the core in the one slice they gave which really sucked. The bacon wasn't strips of bacon, it was bacon pieces. It made it difficult to eat. Each bite, the bacon would fall out and had to be scooped back into the sandwich. It was actually really disappointing. The bacon is the claim fame for a BLT and it should be the best part. Unfortunately it was the worst part. The fries were ok, they were shoestring fries and overly salted. We also got a lot of small pieces of fries that were overcooked. The inside of the piece is really nice and looks like a cool place to hang out. The outdoor patio is also top notch when the...
Read moreI sat at the bar with a friend and ordered a few drinks and meals. The service was good, especially considering how busy it was—no complaints; average. The cocktails, however, were above average. I really enjoyed the cucumber-rosemary gin and tonic and was equally impressed with the old fashioned. Nice work, bartender!
For food, I ordered the smoked tomato soup and grilled cheese. The presentation of the grilled cheese was creative and above average. It was grilled perfectly, but I was disappointed once I took a bite. The taste and texture reminded me of thick slices of Wonder Bread with far too little cheese in the middle. I'm no grilled cheese expert or chef, but even my pre-teen kids would agree that the three variations of grilled cheese I’ve made in the past year would outshine this one.
The soup was pretty good, though a bit heavy on the smoky flavor for my taste. That said, the grilled cheese dipped in the soup was excellent. Perhaps if I hadn’t expected both the grilled cheese and soup to stand on their own, I would have had a better impression going in.
My friend had a burger and garlic fries. He said the burger was good but not particularly memorable, wishing the beef had more flavor. The garlic fries seemed basic, likely frozen and reheated.
Our bill was over $110 (without tip) for 5 drinks and the 2 plates of food. Overall, I'd expect more at this price point. I’d go back if a friend wanted to eat there, but if I were choosing, I’d probably pick another spot downtown. 3 stars because the food is really most of the review and it's a restaurant...
