Been on an Indian food kick as of late, and after visiting Tandoori Chef 2 in Maplewood, decided to give Mr. Tandoor a shot. I wasn't disappointed in the least. The food was all fresh and delicious.
Started with the veg Pakora and took the time to appreciate the atmosphere. It was a cold night, and the waiter seated me in the back by the kitchen to stay warm. The sounds from the busy kitchen served as a backdrop as I was handed some of the most delicious Pakora I've ever had. They were expertly fried and crispy, and easily polished off the entire dish along with the tamarind and mint chutneys.
I opted to go full veg and have the Paneer Tikka Masala as my entree. Each curry is cooked to order, and it is obvious when you take your first bite! I opted for the Garlic Naan to pair,.and it was an absolutely luxurious pleasure, dripping with butter. I finished the entire curry with joy and new appreciation for all of the wonderful Indian options in the area.
The waiter/server made sure to tell me this restaurant is associated with Bayleaf in South Orange, and Tandoori Flames in Parsippany, but the spice at Mr Tandoor is more medium instead of mild.
Can't wait to go back and try more. Don't miss this hidden gem in Livingston that has only been around for about 6 months. Some mind...
Read moreThe food was incredibly oily. There is no reason for this much oil. Food can taste good with less oil. It is difficult to order from here regularly due to the amount of oil used. It is unhealthy. Highly recommend using a little less so people can order more regularly without impacting their health.
Neither of the vegetarian dishes we ordered were good. The okra they are using is probably from a frozen bag because there were too many inedible hard pieces in the dish. These would not be accepted if fresh okra was being used. The chicken dish was very tasty.
I will definitely order from them in the future and do hope they succeed as there aren't too many, if any, Indian restaurants around. I will update my review as I continue...
Read moreAuthentic taste with a difference for the best!!! What differentiates them from the rest is the sheer variety of dishes they offer. We tried Chicken Sukka, Methi chicken, Garlic Naan since it was our first time. They hit it out of the park..the Naan were super fluffy, the chicken sukka had the right consistency when it comes to sauce and "how it tastes back home" flavor. Methi chicken was delicious as well, unlike many who pour cream to compensate for lack of taste, Mr. Tandor ensured you taste fenugreek with the cream. Portions are good. Can't wait to try the many other options in person. Ensure you maintain the taste guys, you have a...
