Ordered ahead for dining. Got there early and it wasn’t done. It was busier than I expected so I definitely didn’t expect it to be done early. However, the food came out about 15 minutes later than the expected time. One burger was missing the added lettuce. I asked the server who brought it out about it. He took the burger even though I told him he could just bring the side of lettuce. He got frazzled and mumbled something about maybe it being someone else’s…I told my actual server what happened when she came over and she eventually brought the burger with lettuce back. Burger 2/3 was fine. The last burger was mine and it was wrong/bad. I asked for jalapenos, tomato, and lettuce To be added. The tomatoes were quarter sized! I kid you not. It was three of them! They were clearly the ends. There was barely any brisket on the burger. In fact, it reminded me of when you scrape the last of the bbq ribs out of the pot of sauce and all thats left is random small pieces of meat. I asked for more. The burger had no jalapenos and was medium and not well! I requested that the entire sandwich be made over. The sandwich took about 20 minutes to come out. By that time, I had developed a headache and the rest of my party had finished eating. When I finally got it, the thick bun was untoasted so it was hard bread on the burger. I gave up and when the server asked me about it I told her and then said that I was tired of complaining. I took one bite of the burger and just ate the fries. I always get the same thing when I come there and I should’ve known better than to come later than 6p. It never turns out well for us. I am very disappointed in my experience. All I ate was fries and since it’s 9:31p as I type this, it’s too late to eat anything else. Especially since I have to go to bed when I get home because I work the next morning. What would’ve saved the visit is if the server sent the manager to my table since she noticed how displeased I was and/or just took the burger off the bill. She saw I didn’t eat it because I took it apart and asked for a box so that I could toast it...
Read moreMy family and I were very excited to try BJ’s brew house for the first time, especially after passing the Livonia location regularly for years. I had a great oven-roasted salmon over a rice pilaf but my family ordered pizzas both original style and tavern-cut which unfortunately we’re underwhelming but they were not nearly as appalling as was our service by Daniel E. He was not only seemingly in a rush during the entirety of our dinner but he was also VERY rude and made sure not to hide it. Initially when he made a smart remark in regards to an item we wanted to order only being available for lunch service, we disregarded the comment since it was not impactful on our service at that time. As the night came to an end and we received our bill, Daniel’s rudeness continued unwarranted, we asked a simple question involving a “$7 special” charge on our bill that we did not recognize and when we asked Daniel what the charge was for he let us know it was happy hour pricing and that we should “just look at the bill” as he walked away…as if we, as first time customers, were dim-witted and should already know to what the bill was referring to. When I paid the bill I voiced our dissatisfaction with his attitude and demeanor he gave an insincere excuse (no apology) telling us that his hands were full, his arms were tired and that he “did not feel like chatting”. He then shows us what we initially asked him about on our bill and adds on additional rude comments, again unwarranted. That was the last straw and our gratuity at that time, which was going to exceed the suggested gratuity, was greatly reduced to an amount that we still feel was way more than the waiter deserved for his unprofessional and ill-mannered behavior. We will NOT be returning to any of BJ’s restaurants knowing that the staff are allowed to act in this manner especially since they knowingly chose to work at a job that requires, at the least, DECENT customer service…it left such a foul taste...
Read moredon’t usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled after my recent visit to BJ’s — and that’s thanks to both the food and the exceptional service I received from TJ.
Let’s start with the food: I ordered a classic burger and fries, and while I came in with modest expectations, the experience genuinely surprised me in the best way. The burger was cooked perfectly to order — juicy, flavorful, and well-seasoned, with just the right balance of melted cheese, crispy bacon, and fresh toppings. The bun wasn’t soggy or overpowering, just soft and lightly toasted, holding everything together without falling apart halfway through. You could tell it wasn’t just thrown together — there was care behind it.
The fries? Golden, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, seasoned just enough to stand on their own without needing to drown in ketchup. They came out hot, not lukewarm, which I really appreciated. I don’t know what kind of fryer magic they’re using back there, but whatever it is, it works.
Now — the real highlight: TJ. From the moment I was seated to the second I walked out, TJ made the entire experience feel personal, effortless, and genuinely welcoming. He was attentive without being overbearing, friendly without being fake, and clearly knew his menu inside and out. I watched him juggle multiple tables while still making time to check in on us, crack a quick joke, and make sure everything came out just right. Even when it got a bit busy, his energy never dropped — it’s rare to find someone who can keep things running smoothly and still make every customer feel like they matter.
In short, TJ didn’t just serve — he hosted. And that’s the difference between a decent dining experience and a memorable one.
So, if you’re thinking about heading to BJ’s and want great food with even better service, ask for TJ. Seriously. A good burger and fries will satisfy your hunger, but good service like his will keep you...
