THE best ribs and barbeque sauce! You can dine in or take out. My order is always ready for pick up between 15-20 minutes. Prices are a little higher, but the ribs are worth the occasional splurge
The above was my review a year ago. However, since March 2020 the service at this location has drastically changed FOR THE WORST. How much thinking needs to go into an order for 8 bones of ribs with the sauce on the side? Well it seems like Chicken Shack has an aversion to ribs with no sauce.
The first time I ordered ribs with no sauce was around Easter. They put sauce on them anyway and I let it go...chucking it up to the busy holiday.
The 2nd time, July 4th, I ordered ribs the same way and they still gave me ribs with sauce. This time I called them on it, they put in the correct order and I waited an additional 20 minutes because the new server in the back still sent ribs with sauce a second time! I spoke with the manager who was very apologetic and offered gift certificates.
But this last time on Labor Day the cashier gave me my order, that I called in stipulating NO SAUCE, I checked it and no surprise here, it's slathered in sauce. I waited on the phone when ordering for the person to verify no sauce before I came to pick it up. And to add insult to injury, they charged me for the sauce! I asked to speak to the manager, but Elijah gave directions for my order to be speedily taken care of. But he was too busy working with Door Dash to speak to me. The sauce is good, but maybe, just maybe I want to see the ribs and maybe eat them with no sauce, or maybe I want to determine how much sauce is put on them. I'm done. Just done. Read moreWas a walk in customer on the 4th of July. Ordered two chicken bite dinners after waiting a few moments at 7:26pm. The cashier had to ask my name twice. The young man cashier kept disappearing to the back and sitting at a customer table on his phone while the phone constantly rang and customers continued to fill the lobby. We also witnessed several other customers return with wrong orders or missing items. After over an hour had passed, my wife questioned this young man the status of our order. He then asked the other staff about our order, and we overheard them discover that our ticket was lost. Instead of apologizing and explaining the situation and rushing our order to the next priority, he again disappeared to the back. After contacting another employee I politely asked for a refund and explained our situation for the second time. While that employee was on the phone with the GM trying to resolve our refund issues, to which the solution was to call me tomorrow, the young man returned and began gossiping with another employee about our poor experience not 10 feet from us. He spoke as if wanting a refund was somehow our fault while he made no efforts to assist us or any other customers. While trying to be understanding of the busy staff and holiday, that young man made us feel very uncomfortable by speaking poorly of us. Not a single person ever apologized at any point. We believed that our meal was never going to be made and we would be ignored. We left without food or a refund, and...

I’ve eaten at this restaurant once before tonight (this makes the second and last time) and the one on Woodward countless times. Normally I pick the food up but this evening was my second time having it delivered. I will never, ever eat anything from this Livonia store again. There is no possible way they didn’t know they sent all the food to me cold. I knew it was delivered too quickly. The worst part is that the yellow buttery sauce they put on the potatoes was all in the bag. There was literally a POOL of it in the bag! At first I thought some of the honey mustard containers opened up because who ever heard of that much buttery sauce on potatoes?!?! Whoever did that knew he did it and just didn’t care. There was so much of this stuff that all of the containers were covered in it. Not only did I have to clean everything up but I had to find a way to get that stuff off of the potatoes before I fixed plates. I spent $80 and I have guests and there wasn’t time to reorder. Of course the food was beyond cold after I spent time squeezing buttery off potatoes!!! Please trust me when I say I used half a roll of paper towel before they’d be edible. I’ve eaten at the Royal Oak restaurant more times than I can count and I’ve NEVER had one single complaint. NEVER!
