Absolutely incredible. One of the best sushi shops Ive ever been to and it's as quaint and unassuming as can be. As soon as you step inside you get that wonderful family-owned corner shop feeling and their prices are modest and reasonable to match it. Don't be fooled, however. Their flavors are top of the line. The unagi is perfectly cooked and the sweet and savory blends perfectly. Their shrimp tempura is made hot, crispy and crunchy. You can tell their fish is fresh and properly stored.
I ordered out but I simply have to mention their presentation for their rolls is superb. Every single one is made like it was made for a VIP. All the other reviews made it hard to believe such a gem could be tucked away in old suburban Livonia, but it's completely true. In my humble opinion, this place is a must visit and I can safely say this will be my regular sushi stop moving forward when I'm in the mood for a...
Read moreNew York Sushi is a gem for sushi lovers. It may not be trendy, but it has delicious food with warm service at an incredible price. My extended family visits every couple months or so, but even still the owners recognize us. I visited with some friends 3 weeks ago and she picked me out from the group! That kind of attention and care for guests is what keeps me coming back... well... that and the PINK DRAGON ROLL! This is my favorite roll (if the all caps didn't give it away already). It balances tempura, avocado, and the medley of sauces without losing the fundamental quality of traditional sushi.
On a practical note - the dining area stops serving after 6pm I believe. So if you want to sit in the restaurant, you have to get there before then. Takeout loses some of the charm, but it's...
Read moreThis is definitely a great place for great sushi for a great price. I’ve seen many people complain about their order taking along time but that is because there is only 2 cooks. One elderly man making all the sushi, and an elderly woman making everything else. Yes it is slow but it is worth the wait. I do not understand why some people have to be stubborn and “never return again” when they both take a break between 1500 and 1600 (3:00pm-4:00pm) These two work very hard to make good quality, low priced sushi. It’s saddening that some people won’t take the time out if their day to wait just a few extra minutes longer to enjoy some great tasting food. I hope this helps some of the confusion of why they are closed at a certain point throughout the day, and why your order...
