If you a familiar with my other reviews (there are quite a few), or are familiar with the area that this particular Popeyes is located then you already know that fast-food restaurants in general around here, can be pretty hit or miss—and that is exactly what this Popeyes location is.
Let me explain...
First off, this location is extremely busy almost all of the time. Pretty much from open to close you can expect to wait in a very lengthy drive thru line. For most it will take a frustratingly long time to get through the line and get your food. I haven't been able to pin-point the reasoning for this but I personally think it's a combination of it being in a very busy location in general, and possible staffing issues/shortages.
Coming in second, this one is a two for one complaint (yeeeehaw!). This location is frequently out of menu items, whether it be their famed chicken sandwich, or something else (oftentimes several things at a time). This happens way more frequently than it should, and the worst part about it is you don't find out they're out of something until you try and order it after waiting forty five minutes in the drive thru line. Very frustrating to say the least. Along with that, is the fact that their credit card machines seem to be down very frequently—so there will also more often than not be a chance that you will have waited forty five minutes in the drive thru line just to find out that it's "cash only" when you finally make it up to the area where you order. This is also incredibly frustrating. So frustrating that I pretty much just stopped bothering with trying to eat at this particular location. It's become more of a hassle than anything else.
On the other hand, I've both dined in, and gone through the drive thru on multiple occasions. The restaurant itself (on the inside) appears to be clean and maintained quite well. I have not used the bathrooms here, so unfortunately I cannot speak on that. The staff here is incredibly friendly, professional and was probably one of the best parts about dining in to be completely honest. To me, excellent service goes a long way, and sometimes even becomes more important than food quality depending on the particular situation. The food here is also good, and every time I have eaten here things have been hot and appeared to be as fresh as fast-food can be. As far as I can tell, order accuracy is pretty good here too, as I have never received wrong items, and I have always gotten what I've ordered and paid for.
I usually mention location, parking, etc, etc..but in this particular situation, this restaurant pretty much sits within a giant parking lot surrounded by a myriad of other businesses and eateries so truth be told you should never have any issues finding a place to park. Though that pesky drive thru line that never seems to go away, does tend to get in the way depending on where you're trying to park.
When all is said and done, if you happen to drive by one day and the drive thru line isn't wrapped around the building, by all means get yourself some good ol' Popeyes. I suppose you could try popping inside to see if things go any quicker (just don't hold your breath while doing so). That being said, don't get your hopes up for one of their ULTRA FAMOUS chicken sandwiches either (because they're out......a LOT), oh and make sure you have some cash on hand just in case. As I said up above, to me this location is more of a hassle than anything, but it is what it is.
The chicken sandwich really is as good as everyone says it is, but it's not wait in a drive thru for forty five...
Read moreYou may ask why am I taking more time to write this review when I already had so much time in the restaurant trying to fulfill my order? I had never been to Popeyes and I saw on TV that they had a fish sandwich. I don’t eat chicken, but I love fish sandwiches so I thought I would give it a try. When I walked in, there were about seven people waiting for food and before I could order, I heard one person angrily ask when their food was going to come up. One of the people behind the counter said “if you want your food fast you should go to McDonald’s.” There was a lot of food stacked up in the warming baskets right behind the cash register. There was one person waiting for the food with their family in a booth. When it was my turn to order, I ordered two fish sandwiches to go. I could see they were busy so I waited patiently and in about 15 minutes my fish sandwiches were ready. The guy that was waiting with his family in the booth was still waiting for his order. During the 15 minutes I was waiting for the sandwiches. I noticed that no one had taken any of the food out of the warming baskets to prepare orders. There was a manager in the back just riding this poor guy about turning the Fry basket when he pulled it out out of the deep fryer. She must’ve been the manager, but she was just standing there really giving this guy the riot about which way to turn the Fry basket and all these people were waiting for their food. I’m sure she had the skills to run the register and prepare the orders and cook the foodand all the other skills required to get these customers out of the restaurant with their orders. But she just kept complaining to that one young guy and more more people were waiting for their food. So anyway, I left with my two fish sandwiches and got in the car and opened one up and took a bite out of it and it was a chicken sandwich with tartar sauce, and pickles on it. The chicken sandwich was also slightly cooler than room temperature. I mean really not warm in any way. I turned back around which probably took 10 minutes and waited in line to get to the cash register again. And told the gentleman that my fish sandwiches were actually chicken sandwiches He opened them up and looked at them and said they were fish sandwiches and I was super polite and then told him that they were chicken sandwiches.. So he took them to the Manager and she looked at them and said they were fish sandwiches and now everyone had opened the sandwiches and looked at them, and I can really tell the difference between fish and chicken. So I said well, let’s just do a refund then. The manager said I can’t give you a refund just because you don’t like them. I told her that they were chicken sandwiches and she did agree to give me my refund. During this whole time the gentleman that had been waiting for his order with his family in the booth was still waiting, and the food that was in the warming baskets was still sitting there untouched. I wondered if they were going to feed that food to people and it had been sitting there for over a half hour that I had been there . It was a very strange experience. The gentleman ahead of me had been waiting a solid half hour for his food and I think they thought they would slip me some chicken sandwiches with tartar and pickles and call it a fish sandwich. I really felt bad for the family waiting in the booth that had been there all that time that I took to order and receive my order and drive back to the restaurant and they still didn’t have their food. It was really a very strange experience. All I wanted was a...
Read moreI hate this place with every fiber of my being. Literally THE WORST in everything....it's never busy enough to justify how slow/terrible they are at everything....and if you ever get your food in a reasonable time (which is never), it's going to be the worst food experience you could ever imagine - the food is cold, your order is messed up, and nobody inside cares AT ALL about fixing a damn thing, not even management. I'm so mad about this place existing and even pretending to be a food establishment that I will do everything in my petty power to get this place closed down. It doesn't deserve to co-exist in a world where people actually give a damn. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! One last thing to any Popeye's executive reading this (highly doubt it) - you couldn't pay me unlimited store credit for the rest of my life to try Popeye's ever again, not until they drastically change their ways. People can hate on Chick-Fil-A for their beliefs, but at least they know how to run a business that employs people that give a damn and won't keep you waiting 30+ minutes with 1-2 people in line. It's absolutely insane how terrible this location is, I cannot stress this enough.
P.S. - Hey Popeye's HR, how about instead of "wishing" customers to come back, how about you send a CEO or an executive out to any location in Metro Detroit and see how they're literally just throwing money away because of how inefficient, slow, lackadaisical, lower than minimal effort, and just outright terrible/horrible most of these Metro Detroit locations are. But hey, what do I know. I'm just some jerk on the internet who's pissed off that companies like this exist and still don't care to fix anything. If you want me or any single person to spend $10-$15 on each person for each visit, I highly suggest that you check your hiring process & quality control habits because quite frankly, it's a high school classroom in there with no work getting done whatsoever. Just a bunch of chatting and attitude towards customers for working a job they interviewed for and can leave at any moment, but know they can get away with such actions because there's no accountability from a single person that I have run into at this location. Do you know how hard it is to have a rating under 3 stars in today's realm? People want to give a positive review when not all things are positive, and here we are "just chillin" at 2.5 acting like everything is normal. Everything is on fire, but clearly management doesn't care or even exist here because they can't even be average! They're soooo bad and I have no problem saying it a...
