A Disappointing Shopping Experience My recent visit to the Costco on Middlebelt Rd in Livonia left me genuinely frustrated and disappointed.
I have visited numerous Costco locations across the nation, all of which have consistently upheld the brand's reputation for excellence. Regrettably, the Livonia branch was a glaring exception.
The crux of the problem lies in the shocking lack of professionalism and courtesy exhibited by the staff. When I asked for a box and could they pack my meats into one, the response was nothing short of appalling. Instead of the expected helpfulness I’ve always gotten, an employee carelessly tossed a box onto my cart and essentially shoved me away. This blatant disregard for customer needs is simply inexcusable.
Furthermore, what baffled me even more was the apparent overstaffing at the checkout area. It's a stark contrast to Costco's typically efficient operations. The presence of two employees for the task that one could have easily handled seemed like a misallocation of resources.
In summary, my recent experience at the Livonia Costco was infuriating and far from what I've come to expect from this reputable brand. While I understand that no business is flawless, this particular location needs a serious wake-up call when it comes to customer service.
Consider this review as a clear call to action for the management of Livonia's Costco. Customers deserve better, and I'm not the only one who feels this way, while I sat and spoke with many folks around me in the food court area who had complaints as well. If you want customer service like tires go someplace else. I've gotten tires there twice and neither time was a pleasant experience. The first was nothing like the second. I made an appointment online to purchase a set of 4 tires for my son for Xmas. I picked out the tires and the quantity on their website and picked a date and time to be there. I have my son meet me there, appt. is at 8 am. We get there and the not so nice young lady with the very wrinkled shirt askes me if I ordered the tires and I said yes I have an appointment and a confirmation number. Tried to show her the number but she wouldn't look just wanted my name. Then she askes if I ordered "and paid" for tires already and I said no why would I pay for a service you haven't performed yet, but I did order them online, here is my confirmation, again she wouldn't look. Then she tells me "they" really want you to pay for the tires to make sure they are here. So i said what is the confirmation for if you aren't going to have my tires here? Again she tells me about what "they" want so I asked her who is they? I ordered them online and received a confirmation without even being asked to pay for them so who is "they"? There tire store manager was standing there listening and not one of them offered to do anything for me or offered any solutions except to order them online, pay for them and go back at a later date. I was so mad and embarrassed in front of my son all I could do was walk away. They turned a really nice Xmas present into nothing but a headache, thanks Costco! I'm going to cancel my membership...
Read moreI have been to 5 other costcos and maybe it is because I know the layout of the livonia store, I enjoy going to this store. What I can tell you is out of the local metro detroit costcos, it has the cheapest gasoline prices 95% of the time.
If I could give it a 4.5 starts, instead of a 5 star, I would. Nothing against this specific store. Just costco as a whole. I ordered a safe online. It shipped, and on the outside of the box it had the picture of the right safe. Then there was another box inside and that showed a cheap version of the safe. I opened that box and they had the cheap version of the safe. I personally thought (thing happen), so I called costco online and returened it to the store and they ordered a replacement. Guess what, that replacement was the same. Right box on the outside and wrong box and safe inside. To me this is a vendor problem and they are trying to scam the people to keep it and not return it.
In regards to this costco. returns and price adjustments are super easy and never had any problems. The only knock against this costco is on certain busy days before holiday (I expect it to be busy), I would expect all registers to be open on those day. Yes 70% are open, but they could do a better job when they know they are going to get slammed. Also, I do not know if it is this costco or the corporate costco, I get frustrated when the ad breaks that they are out of stock on that item! This happens rarely and 90% of the time they have it in stock.
